ROH Scramble Madness (11/16/2002)- Wakefield, MA
PROPHECY BACKSTAGE PROMOS- okay promos, but the interactions between them (aside from Daniels & Joe) just seemed so scripted. The interactions between Luscious and everyone else seemed like they were entirely manufactured conflict, and Daniels saying to her “I know that you are beautiful and intelligent, but can you keep your mouth shut?” seemed so scripted and corny. And Daniels telling Xavier about his plan to win the #1 Contender’s Trophy seemed like a D-movie villain’s monologue. The stuff with Dunn & Marcos was good, though.
JAY BRISCOE & AMAZING RED vs. MARK BRISCOE & CHRISTOPHER DANIELS- 7/10
SPECIAL K, YORK, MATTHEWS, & ALEXIS LAREE SEGMENT- good
ALEXIS LAREE vs. MACE (w/Allison Danger)- 3/10. The testicular claw was a great spot… but they should have had the ref distracted for it, as that should count as a low blow.
STEVE CORINO PROMO- okay
XAVIER(w/Simply Luscious) vs. JEREMY LOPEZ- 5.5/10
DA HIT SQUAD vs. TONY MAMALUKE & MATT THOMPSON-5/10
SCRAMBLE MATCH: Amazing Red, the SAT, & Quiet Storm (w/Trinity) vs. Special K (w/Dixie)- 7.5/10. A giant spotfest. I’ve seen people give this higher, but a lot of it just felt way too chaoreographed for my liking.
HANDICAP MATCH: Samoa Joe vs. Dunn & Marcos- GREAT squash
STREET FIGHT: Paul London & Rudy Boy Gonzalez vs. Michael Shane & Biohazard- 6.5/10
SAMOA JOE vs. HOMICIDE-6/10.
#1 CONTENDER’S TROPHY MATCH: AJ Styles(c) vs. Christopher Daniels (w/Simply Luscious)- 7/10 Good aftermath, too.
30 MINUTE IRONMAN MATCH: Bryan Danielson vs. Doug Williams- 8/10
BRYAN DANIELSON & DOUG WILLIAMS PROMOS- good
PROPHECY SEGMENET- Great. MUCH more natural sounding than the one at the beginning of this disc.
AJ & ALEXIS LAREE BACKSTAGE- great build to the next show.
Overall, a good show from ROH. Nothing great, but it wasn’t bad, either. Enjoyable if you have the money, but entirely skippable if you don’t, as the only important storyline development on this show is Mark Briscoe joining the Prophecy and the beginning of the dissension in the Prophecy.
