ROH Revenge On The Prophecy (1/11/2003)- West Mifflin, PA

SEGMENTS BUILDING UP THE GROUP- GREAT! Really made you feel like there was a war coming between the Prophecy and The Group without making anyone look like babyfaces

SPECIAL K PROMO- Did its job, which was to be so lame that it made you pop for the S.A.T. and Da Hit Squad coming out and destroying them.

PAUL LONDON PROMO- classic babyface stuff.

MATT STRYKER vs. CHAD COLLYER- 6.25/10

CM PUNK PROMO- great.

CM PUNK vs. MICHAEL SHANE- 6.5/10

GHOST SHADOWN & THE S.A.T. vs. KONNAN & DIVINE STORM (w/Trinity)- 7.25/10

WEAPONS MATCH: Da Hit Squad vs. The Carnage Crew- 4.5/10. Really didn’t feel like a blow-off at all. It just felt like a random weapons match. The crowd wasn’t into it, and the commentary during this match was atrocious, even by early ROH standards.

SPECIAL K BACKSTAGE FOOTAGE- utter crap, and post-production type stuff (like words on the screen introducing everyone) hurt kayfabe, as there is no reason that ROH would do that for a Special K rave.

TAG TEAM SCRAMBLE: The Ring Crew Express & The Outcast Killaz vs. Special K (w/Lit & Slugger)- 1/10. All moves, no storytelling (aside from the thing with Slugger just killing people… but that should have caused a DQ and didn’t).

FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH: BJ Whitmer vs. Colt Cabana vs. Homicide vs. Paul London- 7.5/10

SAMOA JOE vs. BRYAN DANIELSON- 7/10

LOW KI PROMO- AWESOME! Really got me hyped up for this main event

NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH: AJ Styles & Low Ki vs. The Prophecy (Christopher Daniels & Xavier) (w/Allison Danger)- 8.25/10. ROH promised the biggest grudge-match in ROH history (up to that point, of course), and this definitely delivered on that promise. Even though the match was officially a “no holds barred match,” it is clear from Gabe’s commentary that this is intended to be a trial run for a “Relaxed Rules” match.

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS PROMO- okay

This DVD contains some of the WORST commentary ever. Some of it was because of stupidity, some of it was because of bad technique (it seems like every time Gabe opens his mouth it is one long run-on sentence), some of it was because Gabe was talking way too much like a booker, but all of it was BAD. And it wasn’t just Gabe, either. Doug Gentry went by the commentary alias of “Ray Murrow,” but a more appropriate name would have been “Captain Obvious.”

Overall, a decent show from ROH, but the terrible commentary makes it hard to watch. The DVD cover art is also pretty lame. This DVD is also pretty hard to find, so the money you’ll have to pay for it probably won’t be worth it, unless you are a completionist.
