ROH World Title Classic (6/12/2004)- Dayton, OH

DUNN & MARCOS vs. THE NEW & IMPROVED CARNAGE CREW (Masada & Danny Daniels)- 4/10 Not much more than a glorified squash.

SIX MAN MAYHEM: Jimmy Jacobs vs. Loc vs. Delirious vs. Rainman vs. Caprice Coleman vs. Matt Sydal (w/Daizee Haze)- 6.5/10. Good spotfest. Everyone looked impressive.

JIMMY RAVE, MATT STRYKER, & JOHN WALTERS vs. GENERATION NEXT (Alex Shelley, Roderick Strong, & Austin Aries)- 7/10

CM PUNK PROMO- awesome.

ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. CM Punk- 9.5/10. THAT is how you tell a story (or two). Punk’s headlock strategy was legitimately genius, and the story with Joe working over Punk’s knees at the end was done perfectly so as to become significant at the time that it did. Wrestling-wise, this was about 9.25/10, but I am giving it a bonus for being a new idea at the time. Something not seen for a very long time that fit in with ROH perfectly, and a match that helped save the company. Got “Match of the Year” chants… And this was the worst match Punk & Joe would put on together in 2004.

AFTERMATH- good. The stuff with Cide was okay, but it set up an awesome Punk promo and segment with Joe.

ULTIMATE ENDURANCE MATCH: Ace Steel & Colt Cabana vs. The Briscoe Brothers vs. Jack Evans & Roderick Strong vs. Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer (w/Allison Danger)- 8.5/10. Wow. Great debut for a new match concept.

DEVITO PROMO- Good

PROPHECY SEGMENT- GREAT. Showed the beginning of the split between Danger and Maff & Whitmer.

Overall, this show was pretty awesome. Everything delivered HUGE, and the Joe vs. Punk match is an absolute must-see. This show is a must-buy.
