ROH Night Of The Grudges II (8/20/2005)- Morristown, NJ
ROTTWEILERS PROMO- Cide was good. Smokes was barely intelligible.
SPANKY PROMO- very good.
WEAPONS MATCH: The Ring Crew Express vs. The Carnage Crew- 5.75/10. I really enjoyed seeing Dunn & Marcos get the win, but I didn’t like the fact that pin was counted with the other guy’s shoulders against a ladder, rather than the mat.
AZRIEAL vs. JERELLE CLARK- 5.5/10
JAY LETHAL vs. RICKY REYES (w/The Rottweilers)- 6.25/10
SOCCER RIOT MATCH- Colt Cabana vs. Nigel McGuinness- 7.5/10
Both men brought the hate and still managed to make the match fun. This match also featured an absolutely outstanding commentary moment: while the fans doing a “USA!” chant, Prazak says “USA #1! UK hock-ptooey!”
THREE WAY ELIMINATION MATCH FOR THE ROH WORLD TITLE: James Gibson(c) vs. Spanky vs. Homicide (w/the Rottweilers)- 6.5/10
Interesting finish. It will be interesting to see where Homicide goes from he- scratch that. Cide snaps (again) and the Rottweilers jump into the ring to beat people up.
JAMES GIBSON PROMO- good
SAL RINAURO PROMO- good
AUSTIN ARIES & RODERICK STRONG vs. PUMA & JIMMY RAVE (w/The Embassy)- 6.5/10
Good finish.
POST-MATCH SEGMENT- pretty good. If I were booking it, I would have had the Embassy come out on top. We knew Foley was leaving soon, and they had planned to have him in AJ’s corner against Rave at Glory By Honor IV, anyway, so why not let Nana get some heat tonight, so Foley can get it back at Glory By Honor.
ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: James Gibson(c) vs. Spanky- 6/10.
WAY too short. This should have been an epic grudge match!
ROH PURE TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. Christopher Daniels- 7.25/10.
Disappointing match, but an extremely cool finish.
COLT CABANA PROMO- good
RING CREW EXPRESS PROMO & SEGMENT WITH THE CARNAGE CREW- PERFECT ending to this feud. After three years, The Ring Crew Express have earned the Carnage Crew’s respect.
Overall, not a good show by ROH standards, and extremely disappointing. This really didn’t feel like a show called Night Of The Grudges should feel like. Definitely a skippable show, and I would even go so far as to recommend that you stay away from it.
