WWF Armageddon 1999 (12/12/1999)- Sunrise, FL

DUDLEYS PROMO- GOOD

TAG TEAM BATTLE ROYALE FOR A WWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH AT THE ROYAL RUMBLE- The Dudley boys vs. Edge & Christian vs. The Headbangers vs. The Hardy Boys vs. The Mean Street Posse (Pete Gas & Rodney) vs. The APA vs. Too Cool (Scottie 2 Hottie & Grand Master Sexay) vs. Mark Henry & The Godfather- 4.5/10. The story to this match was basically that only having one ref was not enough, so people get cheating and slipping back in. They told the story well, but I think it was a poor choice of story to tell, as it makes the company look silly. I also wouldn’t have had the APA cheat if they were going to be babyfaces against Gunn & Road Dogg at the Royal Rumble

KURT ANGLE PROMO- great!

KURT ANGLE vs. STEVE BLACKMAN- 4.75/10. I didn’t like the aftermath at all.

MICHAEL COLE INTERVIEWS

FATAL 4 WAY EVENING GOWN MATCH IN A POOL FOR THE WWF WOMEN’S TITLE WITH THE FABULOUS MOOLAH & MAE YOUNG AS SPECIAL GUEST REFEREES: Ivory(c) vs. Miss Kitty vs. Jacqueline vs. B.B.- I really want to give this (negative) -10/10, but I feel like that is unfair since they didn’t technically botch anything. But this was a gimmick that was so clearly, absolutely doomed to failure from its inception, and the fact that it not only made it onto the card, but at a PPV, combined with how much it sucked means that I will give it -5/10, rather than just a regular dud.

After the match, Miss Kitty follows through on her promise and actually does take her top off, and you can see everything. At least they gave you what they promised.

RIKISHI PROMO- okay

RIKISHI PHATU & VISCERA vs. THE HOLLY COUSINS - no rating. Good segment. It got Rikishi over well and set up his feud with Viscera.

VAL VENIS PROMO- AWESOME!

WWF EUROPEAN TITLE MATCH: The British Bulldog(c) vs. D’Lo Brow vs. Val Venis- 4/10. There were some botches here that really killed the momentum at key times. Cool finish, though.

X-PAC PROMO- good

STEEL CAGE MATCH IN WHICH KANE CANNOT WIN BY ESCAPING THE CAGE: X-Pac vs. Kane (w/Tori)- 6.75/10. Great heat on X-Pac and a great use of the stip.

WWF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Chyna(c) (w/Miss Kitty) vs. Chris Jericho- 7/10

CHJRIS JERICHO & CHYNA SEGMENT- great

WWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The New Age Outlaws(c) vs. The Rock & Sock Connection- 6/10. This really dragged on. I think that having Foley kick out after the interference was a booking mistake. There was no reason for Rock and Foley to win this match. Having them lose because of the interference accomplishes the same thing and makes the New Age Outlaws look a bit strong. I also don’t think there was a point in having the New Age Outlaws get beaten down afterwards. Let them escape with their heat.

WWF TITLE MATCH: The Big Show(c) vs. The Big Bossman (w/Albert)- 4/10 Unacceptably short for a WWF Title match on a PPV. The best part of this was the pre-match promo by the Bossman, which wasn’t particularly tremendous.

NO HOLDS BARRED, FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH IN WHICH, IF TRIPLE H WINS, HE GETS A WWF TITLE SHOT, BUT IT VINCE WINS, TRIPLE H MUST GET HIS MARRIAGE TO STEPH ANNULLED: Triple H vs. Vince McMahon-9.25/10. A brutal, violent match that told an amazing story. How much you enjoy this match will be heavily influenced by how much you liked the turn at the end. Personally, I loved it. The only misstep in this match was the whole thing with Vince looking for Triple H outside. It dragged on for way too long and hurt this match. They could have easily done the same thing in the parking garage. Still, an amazing match.

Overall, an okay show from WWF. A must-buy for fans of Vince, Triple H, and fans of the McMahon-Helmsley Faction. Everyone else should probably stay away, even with the amazing main event. The undercard is very weak.
