WWF Backlash 2002 (4/21/2002)- Kansas City, MO

WWF CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Billy Kidman(c) vs. Tajiri (w/Torrie Wilson)- 6.75/10
GREAT opener

SCOTT HALL (w/X-Pac) vs. Bradshaw (w/Faarooq)- 4.5/10

MOLLY HOLLY PROMO- good, and Molly jumps Trish at the end of it, putting the babyface at a disadvantage in the upcoming title match.

WWF WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH: Jazz(c) vs. Trish Stratus- 4/10

BROCK LESNAR (w/Paul Heyman) vs. Jeff Hardy (w/Lita)- 4.5/10
Good for what it was. Jeff got his stuff in, and Brock looked like a monster.

EDGE vs. KURT ANGLE- 8/10
Awesome match. If you ever doubted how awesome Kurt Angle is, he does a spot in this match where he swings a chair which winds up hitting the ropes and coming back and smacking him in the face… and he does it so seamlessly that it seems legitimate.

WWF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Rob Van Dam(c) vs. Eddie Guerrero- 6.5/10

#1 CONTENDERSHIP MATCH WITH RIC FLAIR AS SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: The Undertaker vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin- 6.75/10
I had no problem with them being on the outside for so long because Flair is a Special Guest Referee, and this match is very important to the brand that Flair owns, so I have no problem with him not wanting to call a double-count-out. Or, as Lawler said, maybe Flair was intimidated. What I didn’t like was that Flair seemed to bump like a normal referee. He should have gotten back up much quicker than he did.

WWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Billy & Chuck(c) (w/Rico) vs. Al Snow & Maven- 4.25/10

WWF UNDISPUTED TITLE MATCH: Triple H(c) vs. Hulk Hogan- 6/10.
Not good enough for a main event. Way too much punching and stalling, not enough storytelling. Once they started telling the story it was good, though. The overbooking worked, though.

Overall, a bad show from the WWF. Not even clost to PPV quality, and the two most-hyped matches on the show (Taker vs. Austin and Triple H vs. Hogan) were very disappointing. Edge vs. Angle saves this from being a complete stinker.
