ADAM COLE & KYLE O'REILLY vs. THE ALL NIGHT EXPRESS (Kenny King & Rhett Titus) - 6/10
RICKY REYES vs. ANDY "RIGHT LEG" RIDGE - 5/10
The aftermath would have been very good if anyone actually gave a crap about Andy Ridge. Even with this whole Trial Series thing, my only memory of him from this year is Eddie Edwards purposely calling him "Randy" on ROH TV.
DAIZEE HAZE PROMO - Not very good. To make matters worse, at the end of this Daizee introduces Jamilia, then says (in reference to an off-screen challenge for a match tonight against Lady Jo Jo & Neveah) "we accept." Jamilia then adds in "Yes. We accept," at which point the only thing running through my mind is Bob Uecker in Major League 2: (in response to his broadcast partner saying "I'd heard that") "Dynamite drop-in Monty. That broadcast school is really paying off."
KYLE O'REILLY & ADAM COLE PROMOS - Cole was good. O'Reilly was not.
DAIZEE HAZE & JAMILIA CRAFT vs. LADY JO JO & NEVEAH- 4.25/10
The announcers spent most of the match preaching about the state of women's wrestling in national wrestling promotions. Meanwhile we are getting a match that isn't too much better than most WWE women's matches and is MAYBE on par with the average women's match in TNA.
ALL NIGHT EXPRESS PROMO - Great. I particularly enjoyed Kenny King referring to Cole and O'Reilly as "the brand new kid with the girly long hair and the Davey dude."
HOMICIDE vs. KEVIN STEEN - 7.25/10
After the match, Cide cuts a promo putting over the ROH roster, until he gets attacked by Steen and they get pulled apart. The announcers gave a good reason for why Steen came back out, though.
THE METAL MASTER vs. MIKE MONDO - 5.25/10
Metal Master was impressive. Mondo, as always, was not.
ELIMINATION TAG TEAM MATCH:
The Briscoe Brothers vs. The Kings of Wrestling (w/Shane Hagadorn) - 7/10
CABANA & STEEN BACKSTAGE - Okay
I QUIT MATCH:
Steve Corino vs. Colt Cabana - 6.75/10
For this match, ROH officials had Steen locked in a straightjacket at ringside so he wouldn't interfere. If you don't want him to interfere, why have him at ringside where Corino can easily free him? And… SURPRISE!... that is exactly what happens. This leads to Corino taking control of the match, and while Corino is holding Cabana and Steen is about to bash his head in with a chair… a referee and a bunch of students come out form the locker room to stop him. WHAT? It's an I Quit Match! If Cabana isn't going to quit then he deserves to get bashed in the head with the chair!
Cabana eventually made his comeback and got the win by threatening to stab Corino in the eye with a piece of a broken table. As you can tell by my rating, this was very disappointing, and especially so for a big, heated blow-off (which this theoretically was at the time for the Cabana/Corino portion of the feud).
CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. DAVEY RICHARDS - 9.25/10
In ROH, it is a major honor for a show to be named after just one match on the card (SOTF excluded, of course). It has happened very few times in ROH history, and the expectation that naming a show after just one match creates is VERY high. This match definitely lived up to those expectations.
DAVEY RICHARDS PROMO- I don't think that Davey knows what the word "ironic" means. Otherwise, a good promo.
SHANE HAGADORN PROMO - Very good
Final Thoughts
Overall, a good show, but a lot of matches on it still felt disappointing. Matches that should have been awesome, like the Steen vs. Homicide match or the Cabana-Corino blow-off, were only great. The main selling point of this show, though, is the main event… and that definitely lived up to expectations. A must-buy for fans of both Daniels and Davey, and still recommended for everyone else… just don't get your hopes up too much about the rest of the card.
