WWF Unforgiven 2000 (9/24/2000)- Philadelphia, PA
THE DUDLEY BOYZ & THE APA vs. RIGHT TO CENSOR- 4.75/10
STRAP MATCH: Tazz vs. Jerry Lawler- DUD! I hated Taz no-selling the piledrivers, and him still needing Raven’s help to win made Taz look horrible (and was ridiculous when combined with the fact that Tazz was no-selling piledrivers).
BATTLE ROYALE FOR THE WWF HARDCORE TITLE: Steve Blackman(c) vs. Crash Holly vs. Al Snow vs. Funaki vs. Test (w/Trish Stratus) vs. Perry Saturn (w/Terri Runnels)- 4.75/10
CHRIS JERICHO vs. X-PAC- 6.25/10
CAGE MATCH FOR THE WWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES: Edge & Christian(c) vs. The Hardy Boyz- 8/10
Amazing storytelling, and it told a much different story from most other cage matches. How often is the story of the match about someone trying to get back into the cage?
WWF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Eddie Guerrero(c) (w/Chyna) vs. Rikishi- DUD!
An eh match until Rikishi hit the Banzai Drop. When the ref went to count, Chyan came into the ring and begged the ref not to count the pin. If Chyna wanted to guarantee that Eddie would retain the belt, why not just break up the pin and cause a DQ? Anyway, the ref yells at Chyna and once Rikishi gets up to confront her she leaves the ring. Rikishi follows her to the outside, they argue some, and Rikishi throws her into the ring. They argue a bit more and Rikishi hits Chyna a few times, then hits her with a superkick. The ref then decides to DQ Rikishi for hitting Chyna… who isn’t even in the match!
NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH WITH MICK FOLEY AS SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: Kurt Angle vs. Triple H (w/Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley)- 7.25/10
Disappointing, all things considered, but the stuff with Triple H and Steph at the end promised us that the story would continue, in some form.
STONE COLD, SHANE MCMAHON, & STEVE BLACKMAN SEGMENT- eh. Didn’t feel like a PPV-worthy segment, and I didn’t like how quickly Shaen got up from his Stunners.
THE ROCK PROMO- very good
FATAL FOUR WAY MATCH FOR THE WWF TITLE: The Rock(c) vs. Kane vs. Chris Benoit vs. The Undertaker- 7.5/10
A great match, but slightly disappointing, considering the talent involved. I absolutely hated the overbooking here. It just didn’t work for me at all.
Overall, a decent show from WWE. If you can find the Hardys vs. E&C cage match on some other DVD, though, I would recommend that you save your money and don’t buy this show.
