TNA Sacrifice 2012 (5/13/2012)- Orlando, FL

TNA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe & Magnus(c) vs. Christopher Daniels & Kazarian-5.5/10

TNA KNOCKOUTS’ TITLE MATCH: Gail Kim(c) (w/Madison Rayne) vs. Brooke Tessmacher- 5/10
Told a good story and really got you behind Tessmacher.

KAZ & DANIELS PROMOS- good.

TNA TV TITLE MATCH: Devon(c) vs. Robbie E. vs. Rob Terry- 4.5
Told its story well, but wasn’t even close to exciting.

Well… now that we’ve got those silly title matches that they spent so much time hyping up, we can move on the more important business of the semi-random singles matches. Yeah. That’s a good way to structure your card.

MR. ANDERSON vs. JEFF HARDY- 5.75/10
I really dislike finishes like this, but I have to admit that they got the timing down very well. The problem, though, was that while I thought the counter was cool, I thought the pin itself look weak. Like there was no way it should have held Jeff down.

CHRIS PARK PROMO- how did he not see Abyss’ return? I assume that they just showed it on the PandaTron. And even if they didn’t, this guy has been looking for his brother for a few months, and his brother reappears on national TV, and no one has called him and told him “watch this footage?”

AUSTIN ARIES PROMO- good

CRIMSON PROMO- decen- oh crap. EY and ODB are coming out.

CRIMSON vs. ERIC YOUNG (w/ODB)- DUD!
ODB gets in the ring and shoves Crimson right in front of the referee… who does nothing (it’s not like someone jumping into the ring and hitting one of the wrestlers would be a cause for DQ or something). Then Crimson shoves her back, she falls down and hits her head lightly on the turnbuckle (padding still on). Then she sells it for OVER A FULL MINUTE LIKE SHE GOT HIT WITH LARIAT FROM STAN HANSEN! The problem with this is that just a few minutes ago, ODB was out here cutting a promo that she wanted to accept Crimson’s challenge. So big, tough, ODB who people were cheering for to face Crimson just a few minutes ago can’t stand ONE SHOVE? COME ON! We have seen ODB take much worse bumps than that in her own matches and get right back up!

Furthermore, this shouldn’t have been on PPV. The purpose of this was (presumably) to set up a feud between EY and Crimson (why they would want to do that, I have no idea) to blow off at a PPV. This sort of thing is what Impact is for. Don’t waste ten minutes of PPV time that should be going to your main matches to set up a feud between a comedy jobber and your undefeated monster.

AUSTIN ARIES vs. BULLY RAY- 5.25/10.
Told a decent story and had some cool spots, but I think that doing the brainbuster and having Bully Ray kick out of it was a mistake. The story (at least that announcers were telling) was that they weren’t sure if Aries was strong enough to get Bully up for the brainbuster, so the brainbuster should be the focal point. If you have him able to do it, the brainbuster should be the finish. I liked him going to the Last Chancery for the finish, but I think that Bully tapped out way too quickly. And, of course, there was the
Joseph Park spot. Grrr.
So Bully Ray grabs a paying customer (Joseph Park) drags him over the guardrail and goes to assault him with a steel chair… where the hell is security?

JB INTERVIEWS AJ STYLES- very good.

AJ STYLES vs. KURT ANGLE-7.5/10
The aftermath was eh. It wasn’t done poorly, but I think it was a bad idea to turn Kurt Babyface. TNA now has very heels. There is Roode and Bully Ray at the top, and then you have Kaz, Daniels, and Crimson, who aren’t much higher than midcarders.

BOBBY ROODE PROMO- decent

LADDER MATCH FOR THE TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Bobby Roode(c) vs. Rob Van Dam- 7/10
Just barely acceptable for a main event. They made good use of the ladder as a weapon, but the match was pretty unremarkable. Great, but nothing close to being special.

Overall, another lackluster show from TNA. Definitely not worth spending your money on.

STUPID ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. Taz- “Kurt’s like an octopus, man. He’s like an octopus. He was going to pull off that ankle lock-counter out of that Styles Clash.”- I didn’t realize that octopi were noted for their ability to pull off an ankle lock out of nowhere.

2. Tenay (trying to sell Bobby Roode catapulting RVD into the ladder)- “The head of RVD wedged between the rungs of the ladder”- so what you are saying is that Rob’s head went between the rungs of the ladder. Not into them. Between them. So you are trying to sell this as “OMG! How painful. His head DIDN’T hit the ladder?”
