LEX LUGER & THE BRITISH BULLDOG vs. THE BLU BROTHERS (w/Uncle Zebekiah)- 4.25/10
WWF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Jeff Jarrett(c) (w/The Roadie) vs. Razor Ramon (w/The 1-2-3 Kid)- 5/10.
The DQ finish really took a lot of the wind out the sales of this show. We had this great match have such a disappointing ending. I think having Jarrett retain via cheating would have been much better.
KING KONG BUNDY vs. THE UNDERTAKER- 3/10.
A boring match that ended when Taker pinned Bundy… after a lariat.
SMOKING GUNNS PROMO- an okay promo that is completely undermined by the hilarity of Billy Gunn with a mustache.
WWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Smoking Gunns(c) vs. Owen Hart & Yokozuna (w/Jim Cornette)- 5/10
I QUIT MATCH WITH “ROWDY” RODDY PIPER AS SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: Bob Backlund vs. Bret Hart- 4/10
This was extremely disappointing. You really didn’t feel that anyone was ever in any actually jeopardy of giving up until the very end, and it felt like Backluund gave up to easily. Making matters worse was the fact that Piper kept jumping in right after someone locked a hold in and asking if the guy in hold wanted to quit. It got so annoying that I actually screamed “No, he’s not going to quit yet! He only been in the hold for FIVE SECONDS!”
WWF TITLE MATCH: Diesel(c) (w/Pamela Anderson) vs. Shawn Michaels (w/Jenny McCarthy & Sycho Sid)- 8/10
The whole thing with Hebner hurting his ankle was dumb. HBK is the heel and Diesel is the babyface monster champion who is in the middle of a major undefeated streak. Why would you cast a shadow on his victory by having HBK have him down for the count but there not be a referee to make the count? Aside from that (and Shawn botching the landing on the Jackknife) this was an awesome match that told a great story.
BAM BAM BIGELOW (w/The Million Dollar Corporation) vs. LAWRENCE TAYLOR (w/a bunch of Football Players)- 6.25/10
LT worked surprisingly well, and this went off a lot better than I expected. Still short of acceptable main event, though.
Overall, a bad Wrestlemania. Only the last two matches were good, and, if not for the WWF Title match being as good as it was, this show would have been a total dud.
