ECW Return of the Funker (2/25/1995)- Philadelphia, PA
THE PITBULLS vs. CHAD AUSTIN & JOEL HARTGOOD- squash
RAVEN, STEVIE RICHARDS & TOMMY DREAMER SEGMENT- bad. Raven rambles, then Tommy comes out for a few seconds, says something, then walks away. Then Stevie says that he has brought in Johnny Hotbody and Tony Stetson to beat up Tommy Dreamer tonight. Then Tommy comes back out with a stop sign and nails Hotbody, Stetson, & Stevie. Then Raven just stands in a corner while Tommy gets in his face. Then the three lackeys pull Tommy away, but he knocks them down and gets right back in Raven’s face. This repeats a few times until Raven starts fighting and we get an extremely lame brawl.
HACK MYERS & MIKEY WHIPWRECK vs. PAUL LAURIA & JASON- 3.25/10.
An eh match that ends when a masked man jumps into the ring and punches Myers. Yes. One punch from the interfering masked man. Not a weapon shot or a high-impact move… not even a clothesline. One punch.
2 COLD SCORPIO vs. HECTOR GUERRERO- 6.5/10
IAN ROTTEN vs. AXL ROTTEN- 7.5/10
Lots of blood and had a very extreme feel to it. Good use of the barbed-wire baseball bat throughout the match.
ECW WORLD HRAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Shane Douglas(c) vs. Marty Jannetty- 7.5/10
Great wrestling match and a hot crowd.
PUBLIC ENEMY, CHRIS BENOIT, & DEAN MALENKO SEGMENT- great promo by Rocco followed by Benoit & Malenko getting some good heat, finally transitioning into…
ECW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Tazmaniac & Sabu(c) (w/Paul E. Dangerously & 911) vs. Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko- 6.25/10
WOMAN PROMO- okay
CACTUS JACK vs. DC DRAKE (w/Woman & The Sandman)- No rating. Very bad segment.
The match goes four minutes, which Jack wins, then he is immediately jumped by Sandman. They brawl until Cactus throws Sandman into a random box at ringside. Cactus reaches into the box and pulls out the Sandman, covered with a sheet (why throw Sandman into the box just to take him out again?). Cactus rolls him in the ring and gets ready to cane him, but he takes the sheet off and it is revealed to be Terry Funk, dressed like the Sandman. Why Terry decided to dress like Sandman and hang out in a box I have no idea. Terry and Cactus brawl until Sandman canes Cactus and Sandman and Funk proceed to beat down Cactus and the babyfaces who try to come save him. Eventually Shane Douglas makes the save for Cactus, after teasing a turn. The Funk-Dreamer interaction was good, but the rest of this segment was just random and dull.
Overall, a decent show from ECW, but nothing too good.
