ECW House Party 96 (1/5/1996)- Philadelphia, PA

OPENING SEGMENT- decent, and it transitioned well into…

911 & REY MYSTERIO vs. THE ELIMINATORS (w/Jason)- 4.75/10

AFTERMATH- good. The Eliminators beat Rey and & 911 down after the match. The Pitbulls come out to make the save, but Francine winds up taking a Total Elimination

ROB VAN DAM vs. AXL ROTTEN- 5/10
Good debut for RVD

ECW TV TITLE MATCH: Mikey Whipwreck(c) vs. Too Cold Scorpio (w/Woman)- 7/10
I didn’t like the finish, but that is mostly because the beginning of the match got me behind Mikey so much, so seeing him lose it like that just stunk.

HACK MYERS vs. TAZ (w/Bill Alfonso)- 4/10, but perfect for what it was

TAZ PROMO- great

BUH-BUH RAY DUDLEY (w/The Dudleys) vs. JIMMY DEL RAY (w/Mr. Hughes)- 3.75/10

AFTERMATH- was this really the best Paul Heyman could come up with for the return of Shane Douglas? A crappy joke about being brought in to teach Buh-Buh English?

RAVEN’S NEST SEGMENT- AWESOME! Well executed, too.
Apparently Beulah is pregnant, and Tommy is the father.

ECW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: The Sandman(c) (w/Woman) vs. Konnan- 6.25/10
Konnan was going to WCW and everyone knew it… so why not have Sandman go over clean, rather than the finish that they did?

SABU vs. STEVIE RICHARDS (w/the Blue Meanie)- 7.25/10
Stevie came out of this match looking extremely tough.

PUBLIC ENEMY PROMO- these guys seem overly fond of the F word.

THE PUBLIC ENEMY vs. THE GANGSTAS- 6.75/10

Overall, not a very good show from ECW, but it had two major storyline developments on it, as well as the Public Enemy's last match before going to WCW, so it is worth seeing. Definitely a "rent it."
