ROH Age of Insanity (8/15/2008)- Cleveland, OH

JIGSAW vs. KEVIN STEEN- 5.5/10

ERICK STEVENS PROMO- decent

DELIRIOUS vs. RHETT TITUS- no rating. AMAZING segment. All three guys played there parts perfectly.

BRYAN DANIELSON vs. KENNY KING- 6.5/10

SASSY STEFFY vs. SARA DEL REY (w/Sweet N’ Sour Inc.)- Great squash.

RUCKUS vs. ADAM PEARCE (w/Sweet N’ Sour Inc.)- 4.75/10

NIGEL MCGUINNESS PROMO- great

TYLER BLACK PROMO- oh G-d. Tyler makes a pretty laughable Sid here. He prefaces his promo by telling Aries â€"I think you’ve got something that I might want to hear tonight.” This promo wasn’t very good, but Gabe had planned on the comparison between Aries and Jimmy and the contrast that Tyler draws between himself and Jimmy to be a major starting point in the development of all three men, and, in retrospect, it did work.

AGE OF THE FALL RULES MATCH: Tyler Black vs. Austin Aries- 7.25/10
What is an â€"Age of the Fall Rules” match, you ask? It is just a normal singles match, and the fact that they listed it as an â€"Age of the Fall Rules” match on the back of the jewel case created a false impression in the buyer’s head, as matches with unknown, one-off names like this tend to always be some form of No DQ’s. This, IMO, is deceitful advertising, which pissed me off.

Anyway, I can’t believe that they only gave these guys twelve minutes… but what a fantastic twelve minutes it was.

AFTERMATH- Great! After the match, Aries keeps up the assault on Tyler (which played into Tyler’s promo), then Jacobs and Delirious came out to save Tyler and beat Aries down, then the Briscoes came out, smoothly transitioning into…

THE BRISCOE BROTHERS vs. JIMMY JACOBS & DELIRIOUS- 6.75/10
Apparently this was a No DQ’s match. They probably should have advertised it as such. Allison Wonderland stunk here. It felt so damn scripted. Daizee is out, checking on the injured Delirious and Wonderland comes out and hits her from behind. If you are going to someone from behind while they are checking on an injured person, YOU KEEPING BEATING THEM DOWN! It is just so much more dastardly than hitting some from behind once and then walking away. It really felt like she didn’t hit Daizee more because she was afraid she would miss her cue to run in and low-blow Jay.

KEVIN STEEN GIVES EL GENERICO A PEP-TALK- awesome

FIP WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Erick Stevens(c) vs. Claudio Castagnoli- 6.5/10
Claudio gets DQed for pushing the ref, then goes after the referee, but Dragon makes the save.

BRENT ALBRIGHT & RODERICK STRONG vs. CHRIS HERO & GO SHIOZAKI (w/Larry Sweeney)- 7.5/10
Extremely strong finishing sequence. This also marks the first appearance of Chris Hero’s never-proven-to-be-loaded elbow pad.

DRAGON & CLAUDIO BRAWL OUTSITE- eh. The random fireworks in the background were extremely distracting.

ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Nigel McGuinness(c) vs. El Generico- 9/10
F*CKING AMAZING! Absolutely outstanding nearfalls here, and an amazingly hot crowd.

Overall, a pretty good show from ROH, but it is really just the amazing main event that saves this from being a disaster.
