3PW 3 Men and a Bodybag (5/18/2002)- Philadelphia, PA
WINNER GETS TO FACE THE PUBLIC ENEMY LATER TONIGHT: Christian York & Joey Matthews vs. Dylan Night & Rapidifre Maldonado (w/Allison Danger & Candi)-5/10
Did I miss something? Last show Danger and Candi clearly hated each other and Night and Maldonado did very mean things to each others’ valets… but now they are all friends all of a sudden?
ROBERT PIGEON vs. TANK TOLAND-4.5/10
I really feel bad for these guys. The crowd didn’t even give them a chance. They started chanting boring about thirty seconds into the match, and really didn’t let up. Was this a great match? No. But it was definitely far from boring.
CHRIS HERO vs. COLT CABANA- 6.75/10
The graphics guy goofed here and showed Cabana’s name when Hero came out.
TOD GORDON SEGMENT- Tod makes an unprovoked attack on the ring announcers, then orders some referee to put the announcer in a bodybag Tod had brought with him to hype up the main event. He then brings out an ECW ring announcer to make things â€"hardcore.†Not only was this dumb and pointless, but to make matters worse, the first thing that the new ring announcer does is screw up the stip for the next match, which is…
DOG-COLLAR MATCH: The Pitbull vs. The Rockin’ Rebel- 5.25/10
The Rockin’ Rebel cut an eh heel promo before the match. Typical bloody gimmick match with no that existed purely for the sake of having a bloody gimmick match. I do feel a bit bad for these guys (especially Rebel) because that table would not break. These DVDs really need announcers, too. At one point some guy came out and interfered, but I had no idea who the hell it was or why he was interfering.
BILLY WILES vs. THE BLUE MEANIE (w/Jasmin St. Claire)- 4/10
AFTERMATH- for no explained reason, Candi, who was acting like a babyface earlier in the night, comes out and attacks Jasmin and slaps Meanie. Meanie goes to powerbomb her, but Dylan Night comes out to make the heel save for his valet.
THE PUBLIC ENEMY vs. CHRISTIAN YORK & JOEY MATTHEWS- 7.25/10.
Wild brawl. It definitely looked like York & Matthews belonged in the ring with TPE. I wasn’t too fond of TPE putting one of the heels through a table after the match. It would have made a lot more sense to just do a table spot as the finish.
BODYBAG MATCH WITH TOD GORDON AS THE SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: Sabu vs. New Jack vs. The Sandman- 4.25/10
Nowhere near good enough for a main event.
Sandman is a decent wrestler. Sabu is good. Both are great at working weapons. Unfortunately, not even their collective skills can prevent New Jack’s suckiness from ruining this match. Just about all that New Jack did this match was use a noose, a spike, or a staple gun. The closest that New Jack to actually doing a pro wrestling move this match was the one time he threw a punch. New Jack sucks. I will gladly watch the Maxine vs. Kaitlyn botchfest twenty times if gets me out of having to watch a New Jack match. Sabu and Sandman did some good stuff, here though which is why this wasn’t a total disaster.
Another major problem in this match was the lack of clarification on the rules. New Jack got put in a bodybag, which I assumed meant that the person who put him in the bodybag won the match. Then New Jack used a knife he had apparently had on him to cut his way out of the bag and apparently this made him un-lose the match or something.
AFTERMATH- um… okay… a seemingly random series of people turning on each other and hitting each other with things. At least it set up the main event for the next show.
Overall, a very bad show from 3PW, making two in a row to start off the promotion. Not good.
