3PW A War Renewed (6/29/2002)- Philadelphia, PA

CHRIS CHETTI vs. CHRISTIAN YORK- 5.75/10
Pre-match promos good.

SEGMENT TO INTRODUCE ANNIHILATION- this would have been great if the chokeslam he gave the nobody didn’t suck so much.

JOSH DANIELS vs. ROB ECKOS- 5/10

WINNER GETS TO SPANK THE LOSER’S VALET WITH A CAT-O-NINETAILS: The Blue Meanie (w/Jasmin St. Claire) vs. Dylan Night (w/Candi)- 4/10
The aftermath was okay.

PIERCE ST. JOHN vs. SHAWN DONOVAN-no rating. Bad segment.
They wrestle for a few minutes before Annihilation comes out and delivers one good chokeslam and one bad one. For those of you who have yet to figure it out, Annihilation is a poor rip-off of 911.

THE PUBLIC ENEMY vs. BAD BREED- -9.75/10 (yes, a NEGATIVE 9.75)
I don’t have the heart to give this a full -10 because they didn’t actually botch any moves, but I can honestly say that I have never been more furious at the events of a pro wrestling match than I am at this one (I’ve been pissed off by stupid/nonsensical booking of a match, but this just takes the cake)..
They spent about a minute doing actual wrestling, then one of the guys got on the mic and said what amounts to â€"you didn’t pay to see arm drags! You paid to see us cut each other with things.” IMHO, when you say something like that, and then the match is just suddenly changed to No DQ’s match for no angle-related reason and without the blessing of a kayfabe authority figure (if an authority figure okays it, you at least have the excuse that management thought it would help the DVD sell better or something), you lose the pretense of being a kayfabe sport. It ceases to be pro wrestling, and just becomes a freak show. Guys stabbing each other and hurting each other with stable guns for the amusement of on-lookers.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the worst of it. When his team is firmly in control of the match (both of their guys standing in the ring and both Ian and Axl down in the ring after multiple chairshots) Johnny Grunge guys grabs a mic and says â€"I WANT EVERY F*CKING CHAIR IN THIS BUILDING IN THIS RING NOW!”
That’s right. That f*cking idiot started a chair riot. ON PURPOSE! This isn’t Terry Funk asking for a chair, so a few fans throw him a chair… then a few idiots think â€"hey, that looks cool! I want to throw my chair, too!” and then even more idiots decide that they have to throw their chairs too becaue they don’t want to be left out. This is a wrestler calling for every fan in the building to throw his or her chair into the ring. Chair riots are dangerous… and not just for the wrestlers, but for the fans, too. If someone’s arm isn’t as good as they think it is, fan in the front row can easily be hit in the back of the head by a flying metal folding chair. By calling for a chair riot, Grunge exposed the fans to a dangerous situation, and exposed the promotion to a lawsuit (if a fan does get hurt and decides to sue).

And just when you thought this couldn’t get worse, the Public Enemy guy called for the chairs when his team was in firm control of the match. When the chairs started flying, he and his partner had to duck and cover to avoid being hit by flying chairs (The ring was basically covered in chairs at the end)… what he has done here is exposed his team to more danger than the other team, and COMPLETELY GIVEN UP CONTROL OF THE MATCH! Not only was this legitimately stupid, but it was kayfabe stupid, too! A completely and total lack of psychology. The match then ends in the lamest and most pointless simultaneous pins spot in wrestling history, then these guys all get up and hug.

After this, Ian Rotten and one of the Public Enemy guys get on the mic and put over hardcore wrestling (and, of course, themselves, for being so hardcore), and as they walk off, the ECW theme plays. At this point, I don’t think 3PW could possibly come off as any more of an eighth- rate ECW rip-off. They run at the arena, they have Sandman, Sabu, the Public Enemy and a bunch of ECW midcarders, and Tod Gordon as the commissioner and with his own pale imitation of 911 hanging around. The worst part of it all is that they’re not even ripping off good ECW! They’re ripping off the sh*tty cards full of pointless gimmick matches from 93 and 94!

JOEY MATTHEWS vs. MURDER ONE (w/a manager whose name I didn’t catch… but not the same one from the first show)- 2/10
Want to hear something scary? Murder One was billed as being from the â€"New Jack Wrestling Academy.” And it shows, too. Aside from punches and clotheslines, Murder One did ONE MOVE all match… a not too shabby sitout chokeslam (which I assume he learned from a guest trainer). Hell… they should have had this guy be Annihilation. The match goes an entirely unremarkable five minutes. Was it really necessary for Joey Matthews to need to cheat to win here? Why not just give these guys two extra minutes to let Murder One look at least competent and let Joey win clean?

â€"PITBULL” GARY WOLFE vs. DEVON STORM (w/Serena)- 6.25/10

ROCKIN’ REBEL vs. NEW JACK (w/Murder One & the same unnamed manager from before)- 2.5/10
Pretty good for a New Jack singles match.

AFTERMATH- some guy who I had to use the internet to identify as Bilvis Wesley randomly attacks New Jack but Murder One and the other guy stop him, then restrain him while New Jack shaves his head with an electric trimmer that the non-Murder One flunky just happened to have in his pocket. I have no idea why any of this happened. 3PW really needs to get some announcers.

THE SANDMAN & BILL ALFONSO vs. SABU & TOD GORDON (w/Annihilation)- 3.75/10
An uninspired match mostly dominated by Sandman until Fonzie randomly turns on him, allowing Annihilation to hit another crappy chokeslam and Tod Gordon to pin him. Then they start beating Sandman down until New Jack runs out and makes the save. Then Rockin’ Rebel and Bilvis Wesley come out and beat down New Jack, leading a whole bunch of people coming out for no real reason other than because they wanted to have a big brawl.

This show was absolutely horrendous. Just plain awful. 3PW seems to have no direction whatsoever. I rarely have any idea what is going on or why (they really need some announcers), and the closest it has to any sort of identity is that it is an ECW rip-off that happens to be run by some old ECW guys. They REALLY need to step it up.
