EGOTISTICO FANTASTICO vs. RASCHE BROWN- 4/10
Rashce’s Torture Rack looked very lame.
AUSTIN ARIES & RHETT TITUS vs. SILAS YOUNG & â€"SGUARFOOT†ALEX PAYNE- 5.75/10
DARK CITY FIGHT CLUB PROMO- great
JIMMY JACOBS vs. RODERICK STRONG vs. CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI- 6.75/10
This match was just oodles and oodles of fun! Jimmy Jacobs came out wearing an eye-patch due to an injury, so the fans were making pirate jokes, and â€"ARRRRR!â€-ing whenever Jimmy hit a move. Whenever Claudio hit a move, they did the standard â€"HEY!†and for Roderick they used WOOOOs because Roddy started the match off with tons of chops. Anyway, the fans took this as far as they possibly could, even using it to replace counting for a pinfall! A great match and just tons and tons and tons of fun.
JIMMY JACOBS & TYLER BLACK SEGMENT- I didn’t like this. It felt like Tyler was being WAY too harsh on Jimmy here (although I think that was mostly Tyler’s delivery, rather than the content of the promo).
DARK CITY FIGHT CLUB vs. THE PHOENIX TWINS- 4/10
BRYAN DANIELSON vs. JIMMY RAVE (w/The Embassy)- 7/10
TYLER BLACK vs. CHRIS HERO (w/Shane Hagadorn)- 6.75/10
A good match, but nowhere close to what these two would do a year later in the same building. After the match, Jimmy Jacobs jumped Tyler and busted him open pretty badly with his spike. Unfortunately, a lot of the seriousness was drained out by the fans’ pirate jokes.
2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH FOR THE ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES: The American Wolves(c) (w/Shane Hagadorn) vs. Jay Briscoe & Kevin Steen- 7.5/10
I was pretty disappointed in this, all things considered. A Briscoe teaming up with Steen should have been a HUGE deal after their feud in 2007, but it really didn’t feel like it at all. The screw-up leading to the finish also should have sparked a renewing of the Briscoes vs. Steenerico feud in some way, but that never happened, either.
ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Jerry Lynn(c) vs. Colt Cabana- 7/10
Very disappointing for Colt’s big return to Chicago.
Overall, an okay show form ROH. Definitely enjoyable, but the top of the card was pretty disappointing. It also had no major developments, and none of the matches are matches I’m likely to watch again (aside from possible the triple threat match). Definitely a skippable show.
