2nd Annual PWG Bicentennial Birthday Extravaganza: Night 2 (7/10/2005)- Los Angeles, CA
OPENING SEGMENT- good, but I really wish that PWG would show entrances. Not showing entrances made this segment seem awkward, as I was expecting a tag team to come out, then the screen cut away and when it came back SoCal Val was in the ring instead.
RONIN vs. QUICKSILVER (w/Dino Winwood)- 6.25/10
DAVEY RICHARDS vs. TJ PERKINS- 6/10
CHRIS SABIN & PETEY WILLIAMS vs. JOEY RYAN & SCOTT LOST- 6/10
CM PUNK vs. RICKY REYES (w/Rocky Romero)-6/10
Not sure why, but the DVD lists Punk as â€"a mystery opponent.†If you’re not showing entrances, then you don’t see a pop from the â€"mystery opponent’s entrance,†so there is no point in listing him as a â€"mystery opponent.†Just putting â€"CM Punk†on the back cover would sell a lot more DVDs.
#1 CONTENDERSHIP MATCH: Kevin Steen vs. Super Dragon- 9/10
Vicious awesomeness. Great nearfalls here, too.
FOUR WAY ELIMINATION MATCH FOR A SHOT AT THE PWG WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES NEXT MONTH: Los Luchas vs. Disco Machine & Excalibur vs. Top Gun Talwar & Hook Bomberry vs. Two Skinny Black Guys (Human Tornado & El Generico)- 7.25/10
PWG WORLD TITLE MATCH: AJ Styles(c) vs. Christopher Daniels vs. James Gibson- 7.25/10
An unfortunately short match, considering the talent involved. Tons of good three-way spots, though, and an AWESOME finish.
Overall, a good show from PWG, but mostly on the strength of Steen vs. Super Dragon.
