ROH Tradition Continues (10/16/2003)- Glen Burnie, MD
OPENING SEGMENT- GMC is talking to the fans, but Nana interrupts him and claims to be owed a title shot, so Joe comes out and… well… I’m sure you can see where this is going.

KINDA-SORTA OFFICIAL ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. Prince Nana- Squash.
Joe then grabs a mic and says he will choke out Jay Briscoe tonight. Jay comes out and superkicks Joe, leading to a brawl that is quickly broken up.

GOOD TIMES, GREAT MEMORIES WITH COLT CABANA- Cabana reveals how he got the talk show gig in the first place (it involves beating Rob Feinstein in a game of dreidel. He then interviews the Backseat Boyz, and borrows the pictures with the insulting messages on the back” spot from the Edge-Angle feud. This was a very fun segment, although they taped it from a hotel room in Chicago, so putting it on after something that went on in the ring in Glen Burnie was kind of weird.

TAG TEAM SCRAMBLE MATCH: Dunn & Marcos vs. Danny Doring & Josh Daniels vs. Sonjay Dutt & Slyk Wagner Brown vs. the Rottweilers (Slugger & Grim Reefer) (w/Julius Smokes)- 5/10
Nice little spotfest

FIELD OF HONOR MATCH: Chris Sabin(0-0) vs. Matt Stryker (1-0)- 5.75/10

For some reason, Colt didn’t get a graphic telling us what his Field of Honor record is.
FIELD OF HONOR MATCH: BJ Whitmer (1-0) vs. Colt Cabana (1-0)- 6/10
Punk was absolute gold on commentary!

AJ STYLES & JIMMY RAVE BACKSTAGE- good

ROH TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Backseat Boyz(c) vs. Izzy & Dixie (w/Special K)- 5.5/10
Good cheating by heels. Special K winning made me legitimately angry. The post-match brawl okay.

AJ STYLES vs. CM PUNK- 7.75/10
A great match with an ultra-cool finish! Good selling by AJ in particular.

GMC INTERVIEWS THE BACKSEAT BOYZ- good segment

FIELD OF HONOR MATCH: Jimmy Rave(0-2) vs. Dan Maff(0-0) (w/Allison Danger)- 5/10
Nice little segment after the match with AJ Styles & Jimmy Rave backstage.

DAN MAFF PROMO- decent

PROMO BY THE MARYLAND CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING PROMOTER- a nice little moment for the MCW fans, it put over ROH, and announced that MCW’s annual Shane Shamrock Cup would be taken over by Ring of Honor now that MCW was done. For reasons related to the RF incident, this tournament would wind up taking place in Philly, not Glen Burnie, and would be called Survival of the Fittest.

RAVEN vs. JUSTIN CREDIBLE-5.5/10
A decent match, but the announcers (Punk and Gabe) spent most of the time putting over the Punk-Corino angle.

FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH: Xavier vs. Mark Briscoe vs. John Walters vs. Homicide (w/Julius Smokes)- 8.25/10
AWESOME match! Great nearfalls in the finishing sequence. This is the type of match that really elevates all four guys involved by letting them show what they can do.

JIM CORNETTE PROMO- good promo, but it seemed like they cut it off before Corny was done speaking.

ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. Jay Briscoe- 7.5/10
I have always hated it when guys use a big lariat finish after something like a Death Valley Driver doesn’t work. It seems a bit silly to me. Still, this was a great match, and it made Jay look tough.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- well done, although Joe jumping Mark from behind seemed a bit out of character. If this was meant to be a turn for Joe, it worked well, as the crowd was chanting â€"F*CK YOU, JOE!” while he had Mark in the Choke.

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS PROMO- okay. Daniels tells the parable about the snake that Punk would more famously tell a year and a half later at Death Before Dishonor III.

JOHN WALTERS PROMO- a bit long-winded , but still very good. This also transitioned in a little backstage segment with Johnny Kashmere telling Trent Acid that he needs to take some time off.

XAVIER PROMO- okay

BRISCOES PROMO- short and sweet and promises big things to come. The perfect way to end this DVD.

This show was very good in the ring, with every match being at least decent, but it did have some production problems. The lighting would change between the hard cam and the handheld, which was obnoxious, and some people getting graphics for the Field of Honor by others not getting them seemed weird. Still a great show, though. Definitely recommended, if you can find it.
