ROH Death Before Dishonor II: Part 1
ROH Death Before Dishonor II: Part 1 (7/23/2004)- Wauwatosa, WI
The show opens with Baron Von Raschke coming out to the ring to a huge pop. Generation Next, being the obnoxious pricks they are, come out and interrupt him. They threaten to beat him down, but the Second City Saints come out and make the save, and set Baron Von Raschke up to put the Claw on Jack Evans.
FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH: Delirious vs. Ace Steel vs. Trent Acid vs. Matt Sydal (w/Daizee Haze)- 6/10.
Very good opener.
ROH PURE TITLE MATCH: Doug Williams(c) vs. Alex Shelley-8/10
MAFF, WHITMER & ALLISON DANGER SEGMENT- Danger says that she will give them one last chance to reform the Prophecy with her. Maff responds by saying â€"GET YOUR F*CKING a** OUT OF HERE!†Danger leaves, but on her way out tells them â€"you’ll be sorry.†This was a great segment that set up the next few months for Maff & Wtitmer
DAN MAFF & BJ WHITMER vs. LOW KI & ROCKY ROMERO (w/Julius Smokes)- 7/10
After the match, Allison Danger comes out and taunts Maff & Whitmer for their loss. Whitmer shoves her into Homicide, who hits her with the Cop Killer… because he is angry and crazy. I didn’t like this. It is WAY too soon in this Maff & Whitmer vs. Allison Danger’s Various Hired Thugs angle for Allison to take a bump, and when she does, it should come at the hands of Maff or Whitmer, not randomly at the hands of someone who isn’t even involved in this feud. Also, if you are trying to get the Rottweilers over as heels, having them attack another heel (especially one as obnoxious as Danger) isn’t a good idea.
A referee tries to check on Danger, but one of the Rottweilers throws him out of the ring.
It is now intermission, and we get footage of Allison Danger backstage, in a neck brace, being stretchered out of the arena.
DANNY DANIELS vs. CHAD COLLYER- 5.25/10.
Some good technical wrestling but not at all interesting or exciting, and really didn’t mean anything at all. A real popcorn match.
GENERATION NEXT (w/Alex Shelley) vs. JOHN WALTERS, MATT STRYKER, & JIMMY JACOBS (w/Ricky Steamboat)- 8/10!
Great teamwork by both teams (especially Gen. Next, but Walter & Stryker pulled some cool stuff out, too). Jacobs played Ricky Morton perfectly.
LAST CHANCE MATCH FOR THE ROH WORLD TITLE: Samoa Joe(c) vs. Homicide (w/the Rottweilers - 8.75/10.
The Rottweilers keep distracting Joe in the beginning, so less than two minutes in, the ref sends the Rottweilers to the back. They don’t want to, and only do so once Homicide tells them to.
GREAT finishing sequence! Joe leaves the Choke locked after Cide has been choked out. ROH officials come out to try and pry Joe off, but they can’t. The Rottweilers then come out, save Homicide, and destroy Joe, choking him and whipping him with Smokes’ belt.
Homicide then gets on the mic and says that Homicide might not be able to get another shot at the belt, but the Rottweilers are not done with Joe. The Rottweilers then take turns spitting on the ROH World Title and stomping away on Joe.
2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH FOR THE ROH TAG TEAM TITLES: Second City Saints(c) vs. Briscoe Brothers- 9/10! I LOVED this match. It told a great story that really go you behind the babyfaces, especially Cabana. It built Cabana up very well for his ROH World Title show against Joe tomorrow night.
Overall, an absolutely awesome show from ROH.
