ROH The Future Is Now (6/12/2005)- New York, NY

COLT CABANA vs. JIMMY RAVE (w/The Embassy)- 6/10, with some brilliant post-match stuff as well.

STREET FIGHT: The Carnage Crew vs. The Ring Crew Express- This was a seven minute long Street Fight in which one team had about 85% of the offense, and was really a two-spot match... but those two spots, were good enough to make this a 5/10.

6 MAN MAYHEM: Izzy vs. Dixie vs. Deranged vs. BJ Whitmer vs. Fast Eddie vs. Azrieal- very spotty spotfest. 5/10

SHANE DOUGLAS PROMO- WOW! I don't think I have ever seen a guest appearance go so wrong. This show was the same day as One Night Stand, so Douglas started off his promo by saying that he was invited to go to that show... and the fans responded by chanting "YOU'RE A LIAR!" The Franchise came to have chosen to come to ROH rather than go to One Night Stand (both were in the same city, and ROH had their show in the afternoon so fans could go to both). It soon became apparent, however, that all Douglas was here to do was plug Forever Hardcore and Hardcore Homecoming (although the fans never let him get as far as mentioning the second). They started WOOOOing to piss him off, and chanting "F*CK YOU SHANE!"... so the Franchise got annoyed and pooped on the ROH product, calling it "the same bullsh*t as the WWE" and "not worth the sweat on the Franchise's balls." Shane became one of the (to my knowledge) four people in ROH to ever receive "DON'T COME BACK" chants (the others being Jeff Hardy, Jeff's student, Crazy K, and Konnan). If you like crazy Shane Douglas rant/promos, or if you like seeing things go horribly wrong, this segment is for you. I will even put it in the category of "so bad it's good."

JAMES GIBSON vs. HOMICIDE (w/Julius Smokes)- 7.5/10

During intermission, we get a great promo from Dunn or Marcos, whichever one does the talking.

CM PUNK vs. RODERICK STRONG- 9/10! I freaking LOVED this match! It built well, good spots, great intensity, and BRUTAL chops! Also, a GREAT post-match promo from Punk!

ROH PURE TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. Nigel McGuinness- 6/10. This was going really well until they did a great spot where Joe had Nigel in a submission targeting his legs for almost the entire twenty count... but Joe DIDN'T SELL IT AT ALL FOR THE REST OF THE MATCH! WTF?

Then Shane Douglas comes out and grabs the Pure Title before Joe could get to it. Shane says that he stayed around because everyone had told him that ROH was so impressive, and after that match... Douglas holds the belt up in the air and proceeds to tease throwing it down, but says that everyone should put their hands together for ROH and the tradition that it represents. This was nice, but left me wondering whether the earlier appearance was worked or not.

AUSTIN ARIES vs. LOW KI- 8.25/10.

This was a pretty good show. Definitely worth picking up if you can find it. Punk vs. Roddy was AMAZING!
