BEEF WELLINGTON & PAREDYSE- 4/10
OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Elite(c) vs. Sucio & Fang- 5.25/10
DAIZEE HAZE vs. SARA DEL REY (w/the Kings of Wrestling)- 5.5/10
Very different from the standard women’s match we had been getting in ROH for the past three years, which was a nice change. I’m really not sure when they had Daizee go over here, seeing as how Sara is going into a weekend of big matches with Awesome Kong and Daizee is going into a weekend in which… well… the highlight of her weekend was being kidnapped in the most lame-looking way possible by Austin Aries.
â€"NO FEAR†MIKE MONDO vs. DELIRIOUS- 5/10
Even in his own home arena Mondo is still barely over.
PICK SIX CHALLENGE MATCH: Chris Hero(4) vs. Colt Cabana- 6.5/10
AUSTIN ARIES, KENNY KING, & RHETT TITUS vs. THE HOUSE OF TRUTH (Roderick Strong, Josh Raymond, & Christian Abel) (w/Truth Martini)- 7/10
A fun Aries promo in the beginning, great wrestling, and an awesome sequence from Aries and Strong.
TYLER BLACK vs. CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI-8.5/10
Oodles of awesome. A great reminded of just how athletic these guys are.
THE BRISCOES vs. THE AMERICAN WOLVES (w/Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey)- 8.75/10
Great pacing, great storytelling, hard striking… just plain awesome tag team wrestling.
Overall, a great show from ROH. The show is very easy to sit through, and once you get past the OWV stuff, everything is great. The top two matches are both awesome, and when you throw in two awesome and extremely rare bonus matches, this show is definitely worth picking up.
BONUS MATCHES (from ROH New Frontiers- 6/2/2006):
ROH PURE TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. James Gibson- 8/10
Awesome match, awesome story, and an awesome finishing sequence. On commentary Gabe voices the opinion that this is the best Pure Title match so far, and while I think that AJ vs. Punk from At Our Best beats this one out for that honor, you could make a good argument for this one, too.
ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Austin Aries(c) vs. Spanky- 8.25/10
Great story with both guys working over each other’s neck. They did that Piledriver while seated on a chair spot that Candido and Funk tried at Wrestlepalooza 97 except these guys actually make it look good.
STUPID ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. While Joe Dombrowksi and Dave Prazak are discussing the Briscoes attack on Sara Del Rey and Chris Hero’s attack on Papa Briscoe. Dombrowski says that the difference between the two is that Hero attacked someone who didn’t work for ROH and that makes it wrong.
That’s some pretty weird logic there, Joe. It seems to me that it was perfectly fine for Hero to attack Papa Briscoe because Papa Briscoe had JUMPED THE GUARDRAIL AND ATTACKED HERO! Compare that to Sara, who actually hadn’t done anything to the Briscoes at all when they attacked her.
