ROH Irresistible Forces (10/28/2006)- Chicago, IL

JIM CORNETTE & STEVE CORINO BACKSTAGE- Cornette thanks Corino for trying to suffocate Homicide last night, then asks Corino to take Delirious out for him. Cornette implies, via hand gesture, that he will pay Corino to take Delirious out for him... but Cornette’s hands are mostly out of the camera shot when he does this, so at first glance it actually looks like Corny is offering Corino a hand job (he even says â€"I could make you feel better, if you know what I mean” while saying it).

BRENT ALBRIGHT PROMO- good

ADAM PEARCE & SHANE HAGADORN vs. IRISH AIRBORNE- 4.5/10
The heels cheating got great heat from the crowd.

JIM CORNETTE PROMO- GREAT!
After the match Cornette comes out and cuts a promo putting over Pearce and Hagadorn, and says one of the best lines in the history of pro wrestling: â€"the bigger they are, the harder they fall, but the littler they are, the further they fly.” He also tells a fan â€"I understand your wife is planning to get pregnant tonight. Too bad you can’t be there to see it.”

SHINGO vs. RODERICK STRONG- 6/10
Shingo shows signs of heelish-ness with a cocky cover.

DELIRIOUS PROMO- great for a Delirious promo.

JIMMY RAVE & SAL RINAURO vs. LACEY’S ANGELS (Jimmy Jacobs & Colt Cabana) (w/Lacey)- 4/10
Jacobs and Cabana work together as a team

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- PERFECT! I don’t rate segments, but if I did, this one would be 10/10!
Jimmy grabs a mic and tells Lacey that he finally got a win like she wanted. Lacey then says that the win was all due to Cabana and asks Cabana to officially sign on as a member of Lacey’s Angels. Cabana says that while he has enjoyed having sex with Lacey, he doesn’t want her to manage him because she is â€"a huge bitch.”
Lacey understandably gets upset and orders Jacobs (who had been sulking in the corner while Cabana described himself and Lacey having sex) to assault him. Jimmy grabs a chair but Cabana asks Jimmy to listen to him for a second. Cabana opens Jacobs’ eyes to the horrible way that Lacey treats him. Jimmy grabs a mic and asks Lacey if what Cabana says is true, and Lacey, perfectly true to her character, responds â€"how is that even RELEVANT?! GET HIM, JIMMY!”
Jacobs pours out his heart to Lacey and says that what Cabana is saying is starting to make a lot of sense and he asks Lacey for just one sign to show him that she cares about him at least a little bit. Just a little hug.
Lacey grabs the mic and tells Jimmy that he absolutely disgusts her and orders him to attack Cabana (the crowd, meanwhile, wants Jacobs to hit Lacey). Jacobs just can’t deal with it and breaks down crying, so while Lacey is yelling â€"you are so PATHETIC, Jimmy!” Cabana puts an arm around Jacobs shoulders and walks Jimmy out of the ring… and as Cabana is getting out of the ring, Jacobs pulls the middle rope up and low-blows him!
Jacobs then beats Cabana down and low-blows him again. Lacey then gives Jimmy her heel to attack Cabana with and Jacobs bloodies Cabana with it (and also smells it, because he is, at this point, kind of pathetic). Jacobs goes to the top rope to Pillmanizer Cabana, but BJ Whitmer comes out and makes the save. Lacey goes over to yell at Whitmer so Whitmer shoves Lacey into the ropes, knocking Jimmy off, and on their way backstage Lacey berates Jacobs for not getting the job done. Poor Jimmy. He can't do any right in Lacey’s eyes.
An absolutely amazing segment.

STEVE CORINO vs. DELIRIOUS-6.25/10
I believe this might be the first appearance of Corino’s Disappearing Thumb Trick in ROH, and it gets an appropriate chant of â€"YOU SICK F*CK!”
Hagadorn and Pearce come out and help Corino cheat to win, but Sinclair reverses the decision (based on testimony from the fans) and awards Delirious the win via DQ, which got a HUGE pop (great to see something like that get a pop from a smarky indy crowd). Jim Cornette then comes out and reverses Sinclair’s reversal of the decision (which is good, because setting a precedent of letting the fans tell you if someone cheated or not is a very bad idea).

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. AUSTIN ARIES- 7/10
Great match, with a very good finishing sequence.

DAVE PRAZAK INTERVIEWS SHINGO- good. Prazak asks Shingo why he used a table in his match with Roddy, and Shingo replied that he liked tables and the hardcore style. Then Roddy showed up and they got into a shoving match, but were quickly pulled apart.

BRENT ALBRIGHT vs. TRIK DAVIS- good squash.
This did a great job of making Albright look like a freakin’ killer. He got loud â€"PLEASE COME BACK” chants.

MATT SYDAL vs. JAY BRISCOE- 7/10
A great match that made Sydal look extremely tough and had a finish you just can’t help but pop for. After the match, Mark Briscoe jumps Sydal, which brings Davey Richards out, leading to…

DAVEY RICHARDS vs. MARK BRISCOE- 7/10
Great selling by Mark, especially on the Kimura.

NO TIME LIMIT, NO DISQUALIFICATIONS, THERE MUST BE A WINNER: Samoa Joe vs. Bryan Danielson- 8/10
Awesome match. Lots of intensity here, too. They didn’t try to go wild with hardcore stuff. Instead they stayed in their element and as a result, the match feels unique. This is the type of No Disqualifications match that only these two guys could have. The finish was excellent and was made even better by Dragon’s reaction when he finally woke up afterwards.

SAMOA JOE PROMO- good promo setting up the main event for The Chicago Spectacular: Night 1.

Overall, a great show from ROH with an extremely hot Chicago crowd. It’s no wonder ROH decided to come back for two shows just a scant six weeks later. This is a must-buy for fans of the Jimmy Loves Lacey Angle, and is strongly recommended for everyone else, too.
