ROH Dragon's Reign (5/11/2013)- Pittsburgh, PA

THE AMERICAN WOLVES vs. Q.T. MARSHALL & BARRISTER R.D. EVANS- 4.25/10
Exactly what you would expect from these two teams. The Wolves spent most of the match kicking the heel’s asses, aside from some occasional offense by Marshall and some comedy from the heels. This went a bit longer than it needed to and I really didn’t like the Wolves using low blows.

TOMMASO CIAMPA vs. VINNY MARSEGLIA- 5.25/10
This went a lot longer than it should have. Ciampa is a monster on a quest for revenge. It should not taken him over ten minutes to put away a nobody. I can’t deny that the crowd was into it, though. Marseglia looked pretty good, too, and the fact that he is a New England guy getting booked on a non-New England show bodes well for him.

HOUSE OF TRUTH PROMO- good. Taven’s not too shabby on the mic. And in response to your question, Scarlett, it is never not time for you take your pants off.

PROVING GROUND MATCH: ROH TV Champion Matt Taven (w/Truth Martini & the Hoopla Hotties) vs. Tadarius Thomas- 6.5/10

MICHAEL ELGIN vs. ACH- 8.5/10
The ages-old tale of size and strength vs. speed and agility. An absolutely awesome match, and a breakout performance for ACH in Ring of Honor.

â€"THE PARTY PEACOCK” DALTON CASTLE vs. JIMMY NUTTS- no rating.
These guys go for a few minutes before Rhett Titus comes out and attacks both of them, causing the match to be ruled a no contest. Dalton seemed pretty over with the local crowd, though. Rhett beats these guys down under Kevin Steen comes out to make the save, and we get…

KEVIN STEEN vs. RHETT TITUS- 5.5/10
Decent brawl, although they were on the outside for WAY too long without a count-out. Steen hits Rhett with an extra Package Piledriver after the match.

ADAM COLE vs. RODERICK STRONG vs. BJ WHITMER- 6/10
Cole doesn’t shake Roddy’s hand.

JAY LETHAL PROMO- good

KEVIN STEEN PROMO- good

NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH: Jay Lethal vs. Jimmy Jacobs- 7.75/10
Great hardcore brawl. Corino gets involved so Steen comes out to chase him off. Steen then goes after Jacobs but accidentally eats a superkick from Lethal, building some friction between those two.

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: reDRagon(c) vs. The Briscoe Brothers- 7.5/10
Slightly disappointing, considering how much I liked their first match. Jay's lack of offense was disappointing, too. He's the ROH World Champion for crying out loud. Anyway, reDRagon cheat to retain the belts. Then the American Wolves come out and BJ Whitmer, who was going commentary, also gets in the ring. Some shoving happens and we get a big scrum to end the show.

On an interesting storyline note, Corino kept talking about wanting to take over ROH and replace it with something else, rather than just kill it. He also did a lot of criticizing of Nigel’s matchmaking, starting the build to the Steel Cage Warfare that will take place at the June 23rd TV tapings.

Great show from ROH. Not very important to the storylines, but it still had some great wrestling, like ROH house shows used to be back in their prime. A great way to spend three hours.

STUPID ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. Corino- â€"this guy’s got a law degree in alchemy. Alchemy? I don’t even know if that’s a word.”
