ROH Relentless (5/18/2013)- Richmond, VA
Commentary was handled by Steve Corino and Joe Dembrowski, rather than Kevin Kelly. Their kayfabe reason for Kelly not being there is that Corino gave him bad directions, which Corino insists was an accident.
MICHAEL ELGIN vs. KYLE MATTHEWS- 6.5/10
Good debut for Matthews.
ADAM COLE vs. ADAM PAGE- 6.5/10
MARK BRISCOE vs. RODERICK STRONG- 6/10
Pretty disappointing, considering the talent involved. Roddy's not actually doing anything right now so Mark probably should have gotten a more decisive win than a flash pin.
TOMASSO CIAMPA vs. CHRIS LERUSSO- Squash.
This is the type of win Ciampa should be getting right now. Not a ten minute competitive match against a nobody like Vinny Marseglia that he got at Dragon's Reign.
THE AMERICAN WOLVES vs. SCUM (Cliff Compton & Rhett Titus)- 6/10
Based on what they had been building to, the submission finish seemed to be a bit out of nowhere.
STEVE CORINO PROMO- he lays down a challenge to Nigel for the June 23rd TV Tapings: If ROH wins, SCUM is gone... but if SCUM wins, Nigel is gone and Corino becomes the new matchmaker.
MATT TAVEN & reDRagon vs. JAY LETHAL, CAPRICE COLEMAN, & CEDRIC ALEXANDER- 7/10
Before the match Bobby Fish cuts a promo in which he decides to bring race into things in the most hilarious manner possible... by saying that this match is the Beastie Boys vs. Run DMC.
The match itself was a very fun, past-paced trios match, with some very cool sequences in the shine.
NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH: Kevin Steen vs. Jimmy Jacobs- 6/10
This was originally a regular match which quickly ended with Jacobs getting DQed. It was then restarted as a No DQ's match (after a pproval via a phone call from ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness).
This match was very short but the utterly dick finish makes up for it.
BJ WHITMER PROMO- okay
ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Jay Briscoe(c) vs. BJ Whitmer- 6.5/10
Not good enough for a main event, and not good enough for an ROH World Title match. This really felt like it was going nowhere until a big spot that they did with less than ten minutes left. The commentary team for this match was Joe Dembrowski and Mark Briscoe, and they were not very good. Mark just didn't add anything and Dembroski was too over the top, acting like this was the most amazing match he had ever seen.
This show was enjoyable, but it just was just not ROH caliber wrestling. Everything was solid, but nothing was great, and in a company that prides itself on ringwork, that is not acceptable. Definitely skip this show.
