ROH Survival of the Fittest 2009 (10/10/2009)- Indianapolis, IN

JIM CORNETTE PROMO- due to Aries’ cheating in their title match last night, Cornette is giving Delirious a bye into the finals of Survival of the Fittest.

CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI PROMO- started off okay, but wound up being laughter-inducing bad.

THE YOUNG BUCKS vs. THE HOUSE OF TRUTH (w/Truth Martini)- 4.5/10

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: Kevin Steen vs. Colt Cabana- 4/10
Short, but it worked with the way they were selling Steen’s knee throughout the fall.

RODERICK STRONG PROMO- decent for a Roderick promo, but that doesn’t say much.

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: Rhett Titus vs. Roderick Strong- 5.75/10

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: Tyler Black vs. Kenny King- 6.5/10

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: Petey Williams vs. Claudio Castagnoli (w/Ernesto Osiris)- 5.75/10

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: Kenny Omega vs. Chris Hero (w/Shane Hagadorn)- 5.75/10

AUSTIN ARIES & DAVEY RICHARDS vs. THE BRISCOE BROTHERS- 6.5/10
Aries walking out would have worked a lot better if he had actually made it to the back before the Briscoes hit Davey with the Doomsday Device instead of having one of the Briscoes dive on him while he was trying to leave.

2009 SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST MATCH- 9/10
A great pace and an awesome little mini-match at the end by the final two. Unfortunately the finish, where they tried to do one of those finishes where it is so close that the other guy kicks out at three, was not well received by the fans.
On commentary, Dave Prazak and Eric Santamaria wonder how Delirious, with his handicap of… well… being Delirious, is able to train wrestlers at the ROH Wrestling Academy.

PRE-SHOW BONUS MATCH: Kyle O’Reilly, Ricochet, & Bobby Dempsey vs. Aaron Scott, Shawn Schultz, & Tommy Mercer- 4/10
Five of the men in this match looked decent or even good. Tommy Mercer… well… let’s just say he must have improved a lot in the next year for TNA to decide to hire him.

Survival of the Fittest is almost always going to be a one-match show, and this was no exception. That was quite awesome, though , so recommend picking this show up.
