WWE Capitol Punishment (6/19/2011)- Washington DC, USA
WWE UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH: Kofi Kingston(c) vs. Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero)- 7.25/10. GREAT opener.
R-TRUTH SEGMENT- at best… unnecessary, at worst, dumb. And why is R-Truth allowed to show up late?
MIZ PROMO- good
THE MIZ vs. ALEX RILEY- 6/10. Wrong guy went over, though. They should have let the chicken-sh*t heel be a chicken-sh*t heel.
THE BIG SHOW vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO- No Rating. Good segment. I really liked this. Show looked amazingly strong in defeat, Mark Henry and Show start a big-man feud, and Del Rio comes out of it as the same obnoxious but vicious grinning jerk that he was before, but now I hate him even more.
WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Wade Barrett(c) vs. Ezekiel Jackson- 5/10
Jackson’s post-match promo was corny but not bad.
CM PUNK vs. REY MYSTERIO- 8/10
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Randy Orton(c) vs. Christian- 6.75/10. Christian leg was clearly under the rope during the finish. Well… at least they are acknowledging it. WTF? Does Orton not know what a babyface is? What the hell was the point of that?
EVAN BOURNE vs. JACK SWAGGER- 5.75/10
OBAMA STUFF- not only was this a major waste of time, but two things bothered me about it. The first was Booker congratulating a fake Obama for making history the way he did, and the second was the lack of Secret Service! Where the hell were they, letting the President get that close to a kayfabe dangerous person (remember, Booker is a former World Champion, and thus, kayfabe dangerous) alone?!
WWE TITLE MATCH: John Cena vs. R-Truth- 5.5/10. There was very little shine, which I didn’t like, and I didn’t like Cena not breaking the STFU right away. Cena’s comeback was telegraphed with R-Truth’s dancing (he had already hit that spot earlier), and the finish was bad. It was corny, but even worse, the kid NO-SOLD! He had NO EXPRESSION WHATSOEVER when R-Truth took his hat and his drink. If you are going to have a plant, make sure it’s a GOOD ONE!
Overall, this show wasn’t very good, and would have stunk if not for the Punk-Mysterio match. The main event was especially disappointing.
