PWG It’s It (What is It?) (6/8/2008)- Reseda, CA

THE DYNASTY IN THE RING- They say that Roddy won’t be here because he is injured and Los Lucha won’t be here because they got held up at the border, so they are going to have an open challenge tonight. It is answered by Mikey Nicholls.

MIKEY NICHOLLS vs. SCOTT LOST (w/Joey Ryan)- 6.5/10
Great showing for Nicholls

HOOK BOMBERRY vs. SCORPIO SKY- 6/10

JOEY RYUAN BODYSLAM CHALLENGE: Joey Ryan vs. Candice LeRae- 5.5/10
In addition to regular means, Candice could also win the match by bodyslamming Joey. Candice controls the match early because Joey doesn’t take her seriously, but when she goes for a bodyslam, Joey counters it, and then, just to be a jerk, he gives Candice about five straight bodyslams.
Candice winds up countering the boob-plex with a new move of her own invention: the ball-plex!
At one point they did a spot where Joey accidentally elbowed the ref, so the ref missed Candice giving Joey a low blow, then bodyslamming him. Yes, the bodyslam would have given her the win, but why would I want to see her win after she just CHEATED to set up the win. And then Candice has the chutzpah to complain to the referee that she missed seeing her bodyslam Joey. WHAT THE F*CK?! She’s the girlfriend of the top babyface in the company! Other than that one terrible spot, they told a good story.

SCOTT LOST & CHRIS BOSH SEGMENT- LONG AND BORING!
It took them seven minutes to just announce that Bosh was returning to PWG. They just droned on and on and on about crap that one could possibly care about. Then we got a cut to Scorpio Sky being in the ring with them (because PWG is allergic to entrances). Sky put Bosh over, then challenged him to a one-on-one match. Bosh accepted, then buried Sky. Then Lost jumped Sky and Bosh gave him a stunner.

DAVEY RICHARDS vs. BRANDON BONHAM- 7.5/10
Did a great job of getting Bonham over as a fighting babyface. He showed a hell of a lot of heart. After the match Davey cut a promo putting Bonham over.

AUSTIN ARIES vs. EL GENERICO- 6.75/10
A very good match, but it really felt like it was just kind of there. Even more than the usual PWG match does, I mean. Dino Winwood miscalls a Brainbuster as a BRAINBUSTAAAAAAAAAHHH. Anyone who has seen the BRAINBUSTAAAAAAAAAHHH knows that this is a very important distinction.

WINNER BECOMES #1 CONTENDER TO THE PWG WORLD TITLE: Jack Evans vs. Chris Hero vs. Necro Butcher- 8.5/10
Jack and Hero just did WAY too much gaga in the beginning. I actually popped when Necro came in and just started throwing punches. Apparently they just decided to let this be a No DQ’s match and they all went nuts. Human Tornado was hilarious on commentary… until Hero got in his face, at which point his demeanor changed completely. Tornado eventually attacked Tornado with a broom handle and then they had a crazy brawl afterwards.

CHRIS HERO PROMO- The sound equipment was screwing up, so you could actually hear everything Hero was saying twice. He said that he wants Human Tornado in a Steel Cage Guerrilla Warfare match.

Overall, a very good show from PWG. Clocking in at under two hours, it was extremely short, but it was very action packed and also built well to PWG’s 5th Anniversary Show, Life During Wartime.
