PWG DDT4 2012 (4/21/2012)- Reseda, CA

DDT4 FIRST ROUND MATCH: The Rock-NES Monsters vs. The Fightin' Taylor Boys- 7.25/10

DDT4 FIRST ROUND MATCH: Future Shock vs. The Dynasty- 7/10

DDT4 FIRST ROUND MATCH: Roderick Strong & Sami Calihan vs. 2 Husky Black Guys (Willie Mack & El Generico)- 6.5/10
After the match, Sami Calihan says he will answer Steen's open challenge for a title match later tonight.

DDT4 FIRST ROUND MATCH: The Young Bucks vs. The Super Smash Brothers- 7.5/10
I'm not usually one to say this, but it really feels like they kicked out of WAY too much here.

DDT4 SECOND ROUND MATCH: 2 Husky Black Guys vs. The Rock-NES Monsters- 6/10
Yuma hit Willie Mack with what (from the camera angle, at least), appeared to be a completely horrendous phantom bicycle kick.

DDT4 SECOND ROUND MATCH: Future Shock vs. The Super Smash Brothers- 7.25/10
This started off well, but they hit a point where they totally lost me. I wasn't happy with a lot of the no-selling. One particular spot that really annoyed me was the following: Cole picks Stupefied up in a Fireman's Carry so Kyle could superkick him in the head, then Cole puts Stupefied down so they can hit a Total Elimination, but Stupefied does his backflip handspring thingy to avoid it and hits both of them… if he was going to dodge the Total Elimination, why do the superkick in the first place? If he was groggy enough for Cole to pick him up on his shoulders, he must have been groggy enough for them to think they could hit him with Total Elimination, right?
Anyway, everyone involved (the referee included) completely stopped caring about who the legal man was. The ref was even counting pinfalls on two guys at once. They kicked out of about three things that would have been much more awesome finishes than the actual finish… and for what? The SEMIFINALS of a tournament that doesn't mean anything?
Yeah. I said it. This tournament doesn't mean a damn thing. It's just a PWG show where they get to spend less money by booking fewer guys and almost every match on the show is the same damn super-spotty tag match. And the titles in PWG aren't far behind, either.

PWG WORLD TITLE MATCH: Kevin Steen(c) vs. Sami Calihan- 6.75/10
This was the only match on the card I cared about because it was the only match on the card with any sort of story that wasn't "I want to win this pointless tag team tournament." This was a knock-down drag out brawl, and it was great. Steen put Sami over in a post-match promo.

DDT4 FINALS: 2 Husky Black Guys vs. The Super Smash Brothers- 7.25/10
They had some cool spots, but that was it. Steen's clear lack of partiality on commentary really helped the match as it gave me someone to root for in a match I didn't give a damn about.
The Young Bucks jump everyone after the match and Steen makes the save. The Bucks claim they should have won the tournament and allege that Rick Knox fast-counted them. They said that they wanted their championship rematch against Steen and Super Dragon. The Bucks left (after Steen suggested that they go home and give each other hand-jibbers) and Steen put over SSB and Willie Mack, then told Generico he still thinks he is a piece of sh*t.

Overall, the action on this show was good (although pretty psychology-free), so if you like spotfests, you'll definitely like this show a lot more than I did. The biggest problem with this show, though, was its complete and total inability to get me into the tournament which was the entire show.
