FWE Welcome to the Rumble 2
FWE Welcome to the Rumble 2 (6/21/2013)- New York, NY
MATT STRIKER PROMO- he goes on a much more polite version of the standard anti-WWE rant about not being allowed to say certain things, etc. etc.
PETEY WILLIAMS vs. BRIAN KENDRICK- 6.75/10
I’m pretty sure the ring announcer introduced Kendrick as a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion. That’s not right.
Great opener. They told a great story with Petey constantly countering the Sliced Bread #2 and working over Kendrick’s neck to set up the Canadian Destroyer.
THE YOUNG BUCKS vs. JIGSAW & TONY NESE- 6/10
The announcers also misidentified the Young Bucks as former tag team champions in both TNA and ROH. The match was fast-paced, but still your pretty standard babyface in peril makes hot tag stuff. There was one very cool spot with superkicks, though.
ANGELINA LOVE & KATARINA LEIGH vs. IVELISSE VELEZ & MARIA KANELLIS (w/â€the Prodigy†Mike Bennett)- 4/10
Great heel antics, but not much wrestling.
FWE TRI-BOROUGH TITLE MATCH: Paul London(c) vs. Akio Yang- 6.25/10
EXTREME RULES MATCH: Tommy Dreamer vs. Rob Van Dam- 6.75/10
Someone needs to teach this cameraperson how to use his or her f*cking legs. Once they started brawling in the crowd (which was pretty early on) he/she made no attempt to move towards the action whatsoever. As a result, the viewer misses a good portion of this match, and what, based on the crowd reaction, seemed like a bunch of cool spots, including Tommy apparently taking a fifteen foot bump off of a balcony. Striker did his best to use this to put over how chaotic things are and why it is such a better experience to come to the shows, but as someone who is watching it on iPPV, I'm pretty pissed off because I can't see what I paid for.
The match was very good, but it would have been ever better if I could have seen what the hell was going on during the crowd brawl.
FWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Carlito Colon(c) vs. John Hennigan- 7/10
A good athletic match between two guys who WWE never should have let go.
30 MAN FWE RUMBLE FOR A TITLE SHOT AT ANY TITLE OF THE WINNER'S CHOICE- 7/10
The match was fine, but I just didn't care about most of the guys involved (especially in the first fifteen), so I really wasn't into the match.
Was this the best show in the world? No. Not close. At times, the camera work absolutely sucked. The cameraperson seemed totally incapable of holding the damn thing steady and they would occasionally cut from camera to camera very rapidly, which was disorienting. What this show was, though, was fun. A lot more fun than a similar in-ring quality show from WWE, TNA, ROH, or many other promotions would be. Matt Striker in particular was outstanding on commentary. You could tell that this was his release of frustration, and his way of releasing frustration was by letting out all of the fun he had been forced to bottle up inside him for all of these years.
