ROH Motor City Madness 2007 (9/14/2007)- Detroit, MI

DAVEY RICHARDS vs. SILAS YOUNG- 5.5/10
Silas looked good in his debut.

BRISCOES PROMO- not so good

MITCH FRANKLIN & ALEX â€"SUGARFOOT” PAYNE vs. THE YRR (Kenny King & Chasyn Rance) (w/Valerie Malone)- great squash. The YRR looked awesome.
POST-MATCH SEGMENT- Rance cuts a promo about how the YRR is rich and gets a lot of chicks, but he was interrupted by Bryan Danielson coming out. Dragon was wearing an eye-patch due to the eye injury he sustained a few weeks ago against Morishima at Manhattan Mayhem II. Dragon says he needs to test out how good his depth-perception is with his eye patch on before his ROH World Title match tomorrow night, so he calls them out on the â€"Ready For Action” part of their name, so we get…

BRYAN DANIELSON vs. KENNY KING (w/Chasyn Rance & Valerie Malone)
Followed by…
BRYAN DANIELSON vs. CHASYN RANCE (w/Kenny King & Valerie Malone)
Both of which combined to make a decent segment.

FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH FOR AN ROH WORLD TITLE SHOT LATER TONIGHT: Erick Stevens vs. Kevin Steen vs. Delirious vs. Roderick Strong- 7/10
Stevens winning got a surprisingly negative reaction. He actually got â€"shut the f*ck up!” chants when he tried to cut a post-match promo. He said that he knew he wasn’t the favorite to win, but vowed to not let the fans down tonight.

CHRIS HERO (w/Sweet N’ Sour Inc.) vs. JIMMY JACOBS (w/Lacey)- 6/10
Jacobs was, as you would expect, super-over in his return to his home market after his big triumph there against BJ Whitmer at Supercard of Honor II. The spot with Lacey running in to protect Jimmy from Sara’s attack and then brawling with Sara was good. The finish looked awesome. Bobby Dempsey of all people attacked Jimmy after the match, but Jimmy locked him in the guillotine choke. No one from Sweet N’ Sour Inc. tried to help Bobby, and Jimmy refused to break the hold for a while.

BECKY BAYLESS INTERVIEWS JIMMY JACOBS- good
Becky asks Jimmy how his knee held up tonight. Jimmy tells her â€"it’s not about tonight. It’s about what happens next.” And oh boy was it ever.

NAOMICHI MARUFUJI vs. EL GENERICO- 7/10

BECKY BAYLESS INTERVIEWS THE RESILLIENCE- okay.
Aries gives Stevens and Cross a pep talk. Stevens cuts a decent promo. Cross did not talk because he stinks on the mic.

NIGEL MCGUINNESS & CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI vs. BRENT ALBRIGHT & BJ WHITMER (w/Shane Hagadorn)- 7/10
I had totally forgotten about the executioner’s hoods that the Hangmen 3 used to wear. I always thought they were cool, but I gained a whole new appreciation for them here when I remembered how horrendous Whitmer’s blond dye-job looked. I really wish they had just kept the hoods on.
We got some â€"Let’s go Euros!” chants for Nigel & Claudio. It was interesting to see these two team up as babyfaces after watching some of their more regular teaming as heels once Pearce took over the book. Nigel plays a good babyface in peril as the heels work his arm over, and Claudio showed a lot of fire. Great match.

STREET FIGHT: Rocky Romero vs. Jack Evans- 6.75/10
This actually started as a normal match, but about two minutes in, Jack got on the mic and demanded that this be a street fight.

BECKY BAYLESS INTERVIEWS JACK EVANS- Jack cut a good promo. For some reason they decided to film this outside of the building, where the lack of light made it hard to see and the rushing wind make it hard to hear.

ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Takeshi Morishima(c) vs. Erick Stevens- 6.75/10
Really should have gone longer. Two big guys hitting each other really hard and trying to lift each other up should be awesome stuff. It was very good, but with more time, it could have been a match that really helped to make Stevens. The way that he managed to win over the initially hostile crowd should be proof enough of that. I know that Gabe was trying to establish the tag titles as being equal to the world title by putting them on last a lot during the second half of 2007, but in this case, I think it was a mistake. Everyone knew that neither belt was changing hands tonight, but Stevens had so much more to gain from a long, main event battle ending in defeat than the combination of Aries and Cross did.

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Briscoe Brothers(c) vs. The Resilience (Austin Aries & Matt Cross)- 7.5/10

A decent show from ROH, but below average by ROH standards. Very much a "B" show.
