NJPW Road to invasion Attack 2014: Day 2 (4/3/2014)- Tokyo, Japan
SHO TANAKA & YOHEI KOMATSU vs. BUSHI & KUSHIDA-5/10
They let the young boys look like people... and these two are getting to be decently good.
HIROYOSHI TENZAN, SATOSHI KOJIMA, & MANABU NAKANISHI vs. CHOAS (Jado, Takashi Iizuka, & Toru Yano)- 4.75/10
Rather than last night's Flair Flop fake-out, tonight Jado actually did a Flair Flop... and almost made a tag while doing so. I cracked up.
JUSHIN "THUNDER" LIGER, TIGER MASK IV, & YUJI NAGATA vs. SZUZUKI-GUN (Minoru Suzuki, TAKA Michinoku, & Taichi)- 6.25/10
I was not a fan of Nagata and Suzuki's forearm exchange. SELL, DAMMIT! What I did like, was exverything involving Liger and Tiger MAsk. They are quickly becoming my favorite tag team in wrestling right now. The heels then rip Tiger Mask's mask off, leading to a post-match brawl. You'd think that a big angle like ripping someone's mask off would be used ot buil to the next PPV, but Tiger Mask isn't even booked for it.
RYUSUKE TAGUCHI, EL DESPERADO, CAPTAIN NEW JAPAN, & HIROOKI GOTO vs. THE BULLET CLUB (Prince Devitt, Matt Jackson, Doc Gallows, & Karl "Machine Gun" Anderson)- 7.25/10
A big, fun, eight man tag team match that built well to both Devitt vs. Taguchi and the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Title match at Invasion Attack 2014. They even had me scared for a moment that Captain New Japan was going to pin Devitt!
TETSUYA NAITO, TOMAOKI HONMA, HIROSHI TANAHASHI, & TOGI MAKABE vs. CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii, Shinsuke Nakamura, YOSHI-HASHI, & Yujiro, Takahashi)- 7/10
Great match. Good build to both big singles title matches at Invasion Attack 2014.
CHAOS (Kazuchika Okada & Gedo) vs. THE BULLET CLUB (Tama Tonga & Bad Luck Fale)- 5/10
The match told it's story well, but I really have to question the story in question... and the match itself. Okada is the freakin' IWGP HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION... and he is being used in a random heel vs. heel tag match in which he looked like a chump and in which his team cheated... but still couldn't win. Then he was forced to watch his manager/mentor get beaten down after the match... and needed the chumpiest member of his stable to come out and make the save. Yes; this match set up well for the Fale & Tonga vs. Okada & YOSHI-HASHI match at Invasion Attack 2014, but i made Okada look like crap! Everyone is behind this guy. Why have they been using him so poorly this year?
IWGP JR. HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Kota Ibushi(c) (w/El Desperado) vs. Nick Jackson (w/Matt Jackson)- 8/10
Matt Jackson attacked Kota right in front of the ref, but no DQ was called. Aside from that one gaffe, though, this was an awesome match that showed off both guys' athleticism.
A great show from New Japan, that both built well to Invasion Attack 2014 and delivered something well worth watching on its own.
