TNA Sacrifice 2014 (4/27/2014)- Orlando, FL

NOI DISQUALIFICATION HANDICAP MATCH FOR THE TNA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES: Bro-Mans(c) & Zema Ion vs. The Wolves- 5.75/10
In order to prevent Bro-Mans from retaining the titles by getting DQed, this is now a No DQ’s match. Shouldn’t they have hyped that up in advance? Anyway, this was exactly what it needed to be. The Wolves get shined up real nice, the Bro-Mans get some heat, then the Wolves make their comeback and murderize them to win the tag titles.

SAM SHAW PROMO- bad

COMMITTED MATCH: Mr. Anderson vs. Samuel Shaw- DUD!
For those who are wondering, a “Committed Match” is basically an ambulance match, with the additional stipulation that the loser gets committed to a mental institution. Let’s think about this for a moment: If the state thinks that someone should be in a mental institution, the state will throw that person in a mental institution regardless of whether or not they win a wrestling match. If the state thinks that someone doesn’t belong in a mental institution, THEY WON’T TAKE THEM… so the results of this stipulation are ENTIRELY MEANINGLESS!
They made sure to not have Christy Hemme be the ring announcer for this match for her own protection. That was good. Of course, they DIDN’T HAVE HER LEAVE RINGSIDE, EITHER! That was very bad. And wouldn’t you know it… the very first spot in the match saw Shawn grab her and use her as a human shield.
Anyway, Anderson beat Shaw up with no problems at all until Shaw just chokes him out. Shaw then distracts himself with Christy. This allows Anderson time to recover and he beats Shaw up all over the arena (repeating a bunch of the same dumb jokes he made a few weeks ago on Impact) until his obnoxious cockiness gives Shawn time to recover and Shaw knocks him down. Christy then comes out to the “padded wagon” to distract Shaw and gives him a low blow, allowing Anderson to win.
So Shaw looks like a chump because he spent 90% of the match getting his ass kicked all over the place while Anderson looks like a chump for needing Christy to save him TWICE against a guy who he spent most of the match beating up. I pray that this is the end of this horrible feud.

EC III & SPUD PROMO- good.

ETHAN CARTER III & ROCKSTAR SPUD vs. KURT ANGLE & WILLOW- 4/10
I loved the Mary Poppins spots. Other than that, this was totally forgettable. It told its story well, but it just wasn’t close to PPV quality.

EY PROMO- okay.

KNUX & HIS SISTER/GIRLFRIEND IN THE CAR- mixed.
Apparently her ringname will be “Rebel.” That’s stupid. Also, they are going to have two more guys with them: “Crazy Steve” and “The Freak.” Really.
Her dialogue was crap and I’m still not sure if she is his girlfriend or his sister, but we did get an explanation for why he is returning to wrestling and why she is going with him: they are going to make money to give back to Knux’s family carnival… and I like it. A simple explanation that makes Knux a likeable guy all of a sudden.

MATCH 3 IN A BEST OF 3 SERIES FOR THE TNA X-DIVISION TITLE: Sanada(c) vs. Tigre Uno- 6.25/10
Christy introduced this match as being “effectively” for the X-Division Championship. I know what she meant, but it still sounded very stupid. The match was WAY too short for what it could have been. This could have been a breakout match for both guys, but instead they got less than ten minutes. What they did was very good, but it could have (and should have) been so much more.

JAMES STORM PROMO- good

I QUIT MATCH: James Storm vs. Gunner- 7.5/10
Violent match with a lot of blood and a great finish. The crowd was really into it at times, but at other times they were so nto the match that they chanted for AJ Styles and ODB.

BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE PROMO- very good.

TNA KNOCKOUTS TITLE MATCH: Madison Rayne(c) vs. Angelina Love (w/Velvet Sky)- 2.25/10
Angelina wins after Velvet sprays hairspray in Madison’s eyes because someone in TNA thinks it’s still 2009. If you didn’t see this coming, you should slap yourself.

BULLY RAY PROMO- decent

TABLES MATCH: Bully Ray vs. Bobby Roode- 6.25/10
“Sh*t Factor” chants for Roode. “We want Devon” chants aimed at Bully. The crowd also wanted Bully to stack tables on top of each other, and they let their displeasure be known when he set them up next to each other instead.
They have a pretty good match and Bully puts Roode through a table but there is a ref-bump. Bully goes to but Roode through a table with a dive but a cameraman shoves him off the top rope and through a table. The cameraman turned out to not be a cameraman at all but instead a camerawoman… who was really Dixie Carter. I really don’t see Dixie’s character being the type to get her own hands dirty, so I didn’t like this. To make matters worse, WE NEVER GOT A FINISH. They just stopped the match after this (the ref was still down). Tenay told us that Roode won, but Christy never announced it and the ref never signaled it in any way (because he was unconscious). To make matters worse, Dixie’s big reveal came off like crap because everyone realized it was her very quickly, but everyone was still trying to play it up like it was some sort of big mystery.

MAGNUS PROMO- He says he is now standing alone and will silence his critics and prove that he is a real world champion and not a paper champion, etc. etc… and all I can think is “why the hell is the top heel cutting a babyface promo?”

EY VIDEO PACKAGE- awesome… except that this was completely the wrong time to do this. This killed any possibility of Magnus winning the belt.

TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Eric Young(c) vs. Magnus- 6.5/10
The fans chanted USA! USA!... in this match between a Brit and a Canadian. The match was okay.

STUPID ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. Tenay (after Christy fakes affection for Shaw, then gives him a low blow) “I didn’t see that one coming.”
Really, Mike? If you didn’t see that coming, you should probably quit your job. Actually, you should definitely quit your job, but that has nothing to do with this particular comment.
