NJPW Best of the Super Juniors XXI: Day 4 (6/3/2014)- Tokyo, Japan

BEST OF THE SUPER JUNIORS BLOCK B MATCH: Taichi vs. Rocky Romero (w/Alex Koslov)- 5.25/10
Taichi came out wearing the ripped up El Desperado mask that he ripped off of Desperado on the first day of the tournament. Rocky came out wearing a non-Black Tiger mask with a Forever Hooligans eye-patch. He kind of looked like a douchebag, which wasn’t good because it meant that I didn’t care as much when Taichi jumped him from behind with a chair. The ref tried to stop him, but Taichi threw the ref around. He then attacked Alex Koslov’s whose arm is in a sling because he was injured on day one.
When the match actually started, Taichi continued his beatdown of Rocky, then grabbed the timekeeper’s hammer and worked over Koslov’s injured shoulder with it. They did stuff. We got a ref bump. Taichi went to use a weapon but Koslov got some revenge by stopping him from doing so via kick to the nuts, (getting some revenge from their feud last year which I don’t think the Hooligans ever got revenge for), leading to Rocky hitting his finisher and pinning Taichi.

BEST OF THE SUPER JUNIORS BLOCK B MATCH: Tiger Mask IV vs. Nick Jackson (w/Matt Jackson)- 6.75/10
GRR! Those damn cheating Young Bucks! How dare they screw Tiger Mask like that!

BEST OF THE SUPER JUNIORS BLOCK A MATCH: TAKA Michinoku vs. Matt Jackson (w/Nick Jackson)-4.75/10
Heels doing heel stuff.

HIROSHI TANAHASHI, TETSUYA NAITO, MANABU NAKANISHI, CAPTAIN NEW JAPAN, & TOMOAKI HONMA vs. THE BULLET CLUB (Tama Tonga, Yujiro Takahashi, Bad Luck Fale, Doc Gallows, & Karl â€"Machine Gun” Anderson)- 7.5/10
They got me to bite on a nearfall for CAPTAIN NEW JAPAN. I feel ashamed. Tanahashi got beaten down after the match, ending in Anderson and Gallows giving him the Magic Killer, so we’re getting some more build towards the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Title match at Dominion.

BEST OF THE SUPER JUNIORS BLOCK A MATCH: BUSHI vs. KUSHIDA-6.75/10
KUSHIDA wanted to follow the Code of Honor, but instead of shaking his hand, BUSHI SLAPPED HIM IN THE FACE. Strangely, BUSHI then worked the match as the babyface, getting his arm worked over for the heat and getting in the high-flying hope-spots. I probably would have given it a 7/10 if they had done that the other way around, because I really wanted to see KUSHIDA rip BUSHI’s arm off in retaliation for the disrespect he was shown.

BEST OF THE SUPER JUNIORS BLOCK B MATCH: Kenny Omega vs. El Desperado- 7.75/10
They brawled on the outside for several minutes while the ref just impotently implored them to go back to the ring, being ignored the whole time. This brought back bad memories of oh so many world title matches in TNA. Unlike most of those TNA matches, the stuff they did on the outside here was absolutely great. Then they got in the ring and had a GREAT match.

BEST OF THE SUPER JUNIORS BLOCK A MATCH: Jushin â€"Thunder” Liger” vs. Ricochet- 7.25/10
Liger sold his knee very well.

BEST OF THE SUPER JUNIORS BLOCK B MATCH: Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Alex Shelley-7.5/10
A good match with a GREAT finishing sequence.

Another great Best of the Super Juniors show. An easy show to sit through with good action all over the card.
