Dragon Gate Kobe Pro-Wrestling Festival 2014 (7/20/2014)- Kobe, Japan

SACHIHOKO BOY vs. MR. HIGH TENSION KOTOKA vs. RYOTSU SHIMIZU- 0.5/10
They went about a minute.

K-NESS & SUPER SHISA vs. U-T & YOSUKE SANTA MARIA- 4/10
Okay action. Okay comedy.

UHAA NATION, STALKER ICHIKAWA, & JUSHIN “THUNDER” LIGER vs. MASAAKI MOCHIZUKI, DON FUJI, & GAMMA- 5.25/10
Ichiawa got pinned in about five seconds, but the match got restarted for some reason. It got decent after that. Uhaa Nation in particular looked impressive.

MAD BLANKEY (w/Punch Tominaga & Mondai Ryu) vs. JIMMY KAGETORA & JIMMY KANDA- 3.75/10
The match was going okay until someone got DQed for attacking the other team and the ref with a chair.

OPEN THE BRAVE GATE TITLE: Flamita(c) vs. Dragon Kid- 7.25/10
An awesome match, with tons of athletic stuff, though there really wasn’t any selling at all.

OPEN THE TRIANGLE GATE TITLE: Mad Blankey (Naruki Doi, Cyber Kong, & Kzy)(c) vs. Jimmyz- 8/10
GREAT action, and great cheating by Mad Blankey, too.

CIMA & MATT SYDAL vs. MONSTER EXPRESS (Masato Yoshino & Ricochet)- 8.25/10
An awesome match, and a great reminder of what Matt Sydal can do, because we really haven’t seen him get the chance to show it off in the last seven years.

OPEN THE TWIN GATE TITLE MATCH: Monster Express (Akira Tozawa & Shingo Takagi)(c) vs. Eita & T-Hawk- 7.5/10
Great action, but that’s really all it was: just a bunch of spots that didn’t feel like they meant anything in the long run because there was nothing resembling a story stringing them together.

OPEN THE BRAVE GATE TITLE MATCH: Yamato(c) (w/Mad Blankey) vs. BxB Hulk- 7/10
HOLY SH*T! Yamato just COMPLETELY DESTROYED Hulk’s leg! And BxB did an amazing job of selling it… until one point where he just stopped, completely taking me out of the match. I just stopped being able to enjoy 90% of what they did because I was screaming every time BxB would run around and jump and not sell. They really felt like they were on track for something special, but then the train went completely off the tracks.

This was… a Dragon Gate show. There was tons of great action, but a lot of it just felt like spots with very little selling going on. The same reason I stopped watching Dragon Gate a few years ago. If you like action, this is a great show, but if you are more of a storytelling person, I’d stay away.
