FOREVER HOOLIGANS vs. THE YOUNG BUCKS- 7.5/10
ACTION!
TORU YANO, KAZUSHI SAKURABA, & GEDO vs. SUZUKI-GUN (Minoru Suzuki, Takashi Iizuka, & TAKA Michinoku)- 3.25/10
They didn’t do much of the standard random out brawling on the outside sh*t, which was good. The Sakuraba vs. Suzuki stuff was good, but the rest of it wasn’t. How many times have I typed that over the past four months.
TOGI MAKABE & TOMOAKI HONMA vs. HIROOKI GOTO & KATSUYORI SHIBATA- 4.25/10
The first two thirds of this match contained almost no selling whatsoever. When Honma and Shibata got in there the second time, they were very good, although it was short. After the match, Goto and Makabe had an intense staredown, and they teased Makabe not shaking Goto’s hand, but he finally gave in and did it.
IWGP JR. HEAVYWEIGHT TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Time Splitters(c) vs. Suzuki-Gun (El Desperado & Taichi) (w/TAKA Michinoku)-6.5/10
Those dastardly heels jump the babyfaces from behind on their way to the ring and hit KUSHIDA’s knee with a chair. The match was good, but would have been a lot better if KUSHIDA had sold his leg more. Great heel stuff from Suzuki-Gun, though. After the match there was a segment where some other teams came out and wanted a title shot.
CHAOS (Shinsuke Nakamura & Tomohiro Ishii) vs. THE BULLET CLUB (Tama Tonga & Bad Luck Fale)- 6.75/10
NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima(c) vs. Manabu Nakanishi & Yuji Nagata- 6.25/10
I really don’t like Nagata and Nakanishi’s tag team offense. It just doesn’t look good.
NEVER OPENWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Yujiro Takahashi(c) vs. YOSHI-HASHI (w/Shinsuke Nakamura & Tomohiro Ishii)- 5.5/10
Yujiro has a hot chick with him for his entrance again, which is almost as integral to his gimmick as his sunglasses. I usually love both of these guys, and I was looking forward to a great babyface vs. heel match, but for some reason I couldn’t get into this match. After the match Yujiro taunted Ishii with the title belt, so I guess Ishii will be getting his rematch at the next PPV.
THE BULLET CLUB (AJ Styles & Doc Gallows) vs. TETSUYA NAITO & HIROSHI TANASHI (w/Captain New Japan)- 7.25/10
AJ and Tanashi shove each other after the match building up to their IWGP Heavyweight Title match next month. And speaking of IWGP Heavyweight Title matches, I could have SWORN that this was supposed to be AJ defending the IWGP Heavyweight Title against Naito. What gives?
TOKYO DOME #1 CONTENDERSHIP CONTRACT MATCH: Kazuchika Okada(c) (w/Gedo) vs. Karl â€"Machine Gun†Anderson (w/Yujiro Takahashi)- 8/10
Both guys worked over each other’s arms, and they also had some great reversals.
A very disappointing show from New Japan. Obviously that is because of the high standards New Japan has set, but there were still a lot of matches on this show that really didn’t deliver.
