CMLL 81st Anniversary Show (9/19/2014)- Mexico City, Mexico

2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH: Blue Panther, Dragon Lee, & Cachorro vs. La Dinastia Casas (Negro Casas, Puma, & Felino)- 6.5/10
A good match, except until it started to drag for the last ten minutes.

TORNEO CIBERNETICO: Dalys la Caribena vs. Estrellita vs. Goya Kong vs. la Amapola vs. Marcela vs. Princesa Sujei vs. Tiffany vs. Zexius- 5.5/10
The match felt like it dragon on forever and didn’t matter in the slightest. Goya Kong taking a Code Red was cool, although she is a luchadora, so I really shouldn’t be surprised.

2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH: Euforia, Mr. Niebla, & Thunder (w/Zacarias) vs. Mascara Dorada, Valiente, & Volador Jr. (w/Ke Monito)- 7/10
CRAZY athleticism and high-flying.

2 OUT OF 3 FALLS HAIR VS. HAIR MATCH: Cavernario vs. Rey Cometa- 7.75/10
Darn. I was hoping Cavernario would wrestle the whole match with that bone in his hair.
They did lots of great, athletic stuff here, including managing to pull off a Canadian Destroyer (Mexican Destroyer?) and made it look not even slightly ridiculous.
Cavernario in particular really impressed me. He was the heel here, but I think he has a lot of potential as a babyface.

2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH FOR THE CMLL TAG TEAM TITLES: Negro Casas & Shocker(c) vs. Los Indeseables (La Mascara & Rush)- 8/10
The heels messing with the ref at the end went a bit too overboard for me, but the first twenty minutes or so were awesome. The heels were absolutely infuriating, and it was amazingly gratifying to see the vets teach these cocky little sh*ts a well-deserved lesson.

2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MASK VS. MASK MATCH: Atlantis vs. Ultimo Guerrero- 8.5/10
Lots of pageantry and Wrestlemania style entrances here. Okay, seriously… where the f*ck is this guy?!
OH COME ON! The dancing does not need a FALSE FINSIH!
Two legends putting on an awesome match. They did lots of good reversals and escapes from the other guy’s finisher. They hit a point where almost everything felt like it could be the finish. They really left it all in the ring.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD!
I was actually quite surprised that Guerrero lost. Atlantis is already in his fifties, while Guerrero still has some good time left in him, and Guerrero’s record in Luchas de Apuestas is the sort of think you can use to turn a young lion into a main event star.

POST-MATCH- AMAZING!
Ultimo Guerrero is almost crying. THAT how to SELL A STIPULATION. This is a man who knows that a major chapter of his career is over, and that his life will truly never be the same again. And not just his professional life, but his personal life as well.

A great show from CMLL, although it did feel like it dragged at points (it took me three sittings to get through it). The main event is obviously a must-see match for any fan of Lucha Libre.
