WWE officially announced tonight that their first-ever pay-per-view event to only feature female talent, Evolution, is set to take place this fall.

Stephanie McMahon, along with Triple H and Vince McMahon, made the announcement tonight at the start of Monday Night Raw in front of both rosters. After giving a speech that praised the progress made by female wrestlers over the last several years, McMahon made the announcement. Women from all of WWE’s brands, including Raw, SmackDown, NXT and NXT UK will be part of the show. There will be title matches from each of those brands.

An ESPN article that came out shortly after the announcement said that women from the past, specifically Trish Stratus and Lita, would be part of the event. The finals of the second Mae Young Classic, which is set to tape next month, will also be held at Evolution.

The show will take place at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York on October 28.

Cheap plug for my thoughts on this, plus a fantasy card which will be contained in my forthcoming review of this week's Raw.

One underrated piece of news coming out of this is the fact that now that we know that Evolution is an all-women's PPV, Evolution is no longer, as we were so often told, a mystery; full of change that no one sees.

She might have said something like "first-ever women's-only PPV in WWE history," but that's different. That one is actually true.

Haha! I just read it. It really is what I took away from the whole announcement.

You've now painted some pretty crazy visuals in my head for this show.
-People are wondering if the buckets placed around ringside are for a weird hardcore match, turns out leaky roof.

-Baily's inflatable entrance props scare a family of feral deer, who are eventually shot by audience members.

-Corey Graves is fired on the spot for calling Martha Hart "The Wicked Bitch of the North" after an Air Conditioning Unit falls from the ceiling nearly missing Liv Morgan during a Riott Squad promo. He's replaced by Stephanie herself who isn't terrible but continues to call it a "su-PLEIGH" after repeatedly being corrected by Micheal Cole.

-Ticket buyers are outraged when the Hard Cam is moved to the other side of the ring after Section C collapses. Kevin Dunn broadcasts the remainder of the ppv in a mirrored format, the ring apron now appears backwards but the performers enter from the correct side. Lesser of two evils, Kev?

-A disoriented ODB rolls out from under the ring during the opener and exits through the crowd who doesn't notice. Nobody notices.

I just realized that this is scheduled for Pink Ropes WWE Month. The PR is strong.

Well... a bullsh*t charity more concerned with making people think they're doing something than actually doing something is a perfect business partner for a bullsh*t wrestling company more concerned with making people think they're doing something than actually doing something well, so it's a match made in heaven.

They should have chanted "25 years!, because that's probably how long it took to do this when they're acting like the whole thing only took a year that they've been going all over the world repeating everything about women.

So Sd keeps saying "over 50 women from..."

Where are they gonna get all of them from? You don't even see that people on a normal ppv lol.

Start the list then of how we're gonna see.

Obviously everyone on the roster and from the classic, but who else?

Every title defended, that'd be 8 women (ruling out triple threats).

Mae Young final, there's 10
By all accounts, they're going to do the tag titles (Steph's mentioned it, and they've already made the belts), there's 14 to 18 depending on if they do them for each brand...

Maybe they're counting the two female refs from NXT... so 16/20 women there...

JoJo does intros, and they've got - what? - 2 or 3 girls doing backstage interviews right now... at a stretch you've got 24 different women there... they can count Stephanie as one... she'll be there... there's 25... Paige for 26... They get a few legends to show up, and we can easily round this to 30.

They're gonna have to do one hell of a battle royal to make up the rest, but it's not out of reach. I looked at WWE's Wikipedia real quick and counted 41 active wrestlers under contract, not including Page, Steph, Jojo, the interviewers, the referees, or the unsigned Mae Young girls. They can do it... they SHOULDN'T... but they can.
