Two matches and a contract signing segment have been announced for Tuesday's SmackDown.
Johnny Gargano vs. Cesaro is set for the episode, along with Ricochet & Aleister Black vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev. There will also be a contract signing with WWE Champion Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston on Tuesday's SmackDown to build up their title match at Fastlane on March 10.
Gargano tweeted about facing Cesaro: "Let's start checking off all of those 'dream matches you never knew you needed until right now'.. This Tuesday on #SDLive.. Johnny Wrestling vs Swiss Cyborg"
Tommaso Ciampa will be in Gargano's corner for the match, while Sheamus will be in Cesaro's corner.
Gargano, Ciampa, Ricochet, and Black debuted on Raw last week and then wrestled on SmackDown the next night. Gargano & Ciampa defeated Raw Tag Team Champions The Revival in a non-title match on Monday and Cesaro & Sheamus on Tuesday.
Ricochet & Finn Balor defeated Bobby Lashley & Lio Rush on Raw, with Ricochet then defeating Eric Young on SmackDown. Black got wins against Elias and Andrade.
Kingston vs. Bryan was confirmed for Fastlane after Kingston pinned Bryan in a six-man tag main event on last week's SmackDown.
Tuesday's SmackDown is taking place at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Nothing says "we've got big plans for you" like a tag team match with a guy you have nothing in common with besides "being new here". "I'm here to prove to the world that I AM THE One and Only!" "and, I'm here to avenge the dark souls of the defenseless and silence the white noise." "...and, WE'RE teaming up to fight Nakamura and Rusev!" *high five*Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Feb 23rd, '19, 19:40 Ricochet & Aleister Black vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev.
Temper those expectations, folks. They gave up on the guys they've got, and they've got f*ck all for the new guys as well. I just don't get it... it's not that hard...
Just a thought, but what if WWE promoted the matches for their shows instead of leaving it up to the performers to do it themselves? That exact statement would mean so much more coming from WWE...Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Feb 23rd, '19, 19:40 Gargano tweeted about facing Cesaro: "Let's start checking off all of those 'dream matches you never knew you needed until right now'.. Gargano vs Cesaro a dream match? Good to see Garganos's ego has also been promoted to the main rosterBob-O wrote: ↑Feb 24th, '19, 05:52 [

Why should such a thing need to result in a feud in order to be worthwhile?

If that tag match builds to an actual feud between the two of them, then it least it something comes from of it that's meaningful and worthwhile.

Do you really want Black and Ricochets direction to be a random tag team ?Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Feb 24th, '19, 12:40Why should such a thing need to result in a feud in order to be worthwhile?

No. But why can't they just part amicably afterwards?cero2k wrote: ↑Feb 24th, '19, 17:52Do you really want Black and Ricochets direction to be a random tag team ?Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Feb 24th, '19, 12:40Why should such a thing need to result in a feud in order to be worthwhile?

They're babyfaces. What's wrong with that? Why are you all even assuming this is more than a one-week thing?KILLdozer wrote: ↑Feb 24th, '19, 19:05So they just both come off as respectful nice guys?

Re: Two matches, contract signing announced for WWE SmackDown
Nothing says "we have no idea what to do with you but want to get you on TV" than random tag team match. It'd be a good sign for some, but not for guys like Ricochet and Black who are "high ceiling" types in their second week. Especially when both of them are the rare types that can write their own stories, as we saw on NXT.
As Dozer said, I think a feud between the two of them would be the BEST case scenario, seeing the writing on the wall.
DIY I'm actually fine with, they were ~kind of~ getting along prior to this, and makes for an easy segway to the inevitable between those two. I'm just bashing my head against the wall hearing that one-half of the new tag team is in singles action, and the two red hot polar opposite singles stars will be tag teaming together. It just screams that they're winging it with these guys... again... unless something comes of it.

Re: Two matches, contract signing announced for WWE SmackDown
because it's Aleister Black. he's moody and now he's also amicable with other dudes? may as well just book him in a dance off against R-Truth and put the last nail on his coffin

Re: Two matches, contract signing announced for WWE SmackDown
Yeah if some kind of a disagreement can't be seen coming from this then Idk what to say...

I didn't say he was amicable. I said their parting could be. The team was put together by management for a purpose (to wrestle this match). Once that purpose was fulfilled, why would Aleister even care to stay together?KILLdozer wrote: ↑Feb 25th, '19, 10:22Yeah if some kind of a disagreement can't be seen coming from this then Idk what to say...

Re: Two matches, contract signing announced for WWE SmackDown
Allllllll I'm saying is that, when they announced the call ups last week and Meltzer said they'd be "pushing these guys hard" because their shitty booking had damaged everyone else on the roster so bad they couldn't rebuild them, I thought to myself "That's absurd, but hey! The guys they're using to 'start over' are great choices! Sounds like they're REALLY going to try and get it right this time!"Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Feb 25th, '19, 11:36I didn't say he was amicable. Random pairing in a tag match announced for Week 2. I just can't feel good about that. If they have a plan, there's going to be friction between them... and that'd be fine! Black should be an anti-hero, and the two would bring each other's best out in a feud. "Fulfilling a purpose on behalf of management and parting ways" is NOTHING and it's boring. It means they've got NOTHING FOR THEM, besides "new". And that's bad.

Re: Two matches, contract signing announced for WWE SmackDown
I think that once Aleister and Ricochet did what they were going to do, it would 100% be within his character to just say "I'm done" and walk away. You could also make it so that they ultimately lose and Ricochet is the one to take the pin, then Aleister gets mad about it, but he's the kind of character that isn't necessarily forgiving, but it's his gimmick to refocus, set his sights, and go. Moody isn't the best word to use to describe him, because to me it seems like he is 100% in control of his emotions at any time- even after the match with Gargano at War Games II, he was pissed yeah, but he won the match and was over it, until Gargano got in his face again. Moody is not the right word. Enigmatic, maybe, or unreadable, but not moody. And I feel like he's always been respectful, by his own definition of respect, only that he sees everyone in the ring with him as an obstacle.Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Feb 25th, '19, 11:36I didn't say he was amicable. Re: Two matches, contract signing announced for WWE SmackDown
I agree that he's a respectful type of guy, but to me I see that guy that doesn't play along with others either and he shouldn't even need to. And character aside, the idea that in his second RAW is already being put into a random tag team, (with large consequences since they defeated the Revival), kinda tells me that once again, people get called up with nothing to do, and that goes for Ricochet too, one week he's defending Balor, the next he's for some reason teaming with Black. I'm not saying that they should be fighting for titles, this makes no sense at all.Serujuunin wrote: ↑Feb 25th, '19, 19:29

Black is an awesome wrestler and all, but he has zero of the aura he had in NXT.
