WWE Network Subcriber Update & More
Source: PWInsider
By Mike Johnson on 2019-04-25 10:28:00
In this morning's 2019 first quarter earnings release, WWE announced that the WWE Network's paid subscribers are now 1.58 million, an increase of 2%. They noted the day after Wrestlemania 35, their total Network subscribers (including comp accounts and those doing a free trial) reached 2 million.
The company stated that they project a paid subscriber level of 1.70 million for the second quarter of 2019, a decline of 5% from a year ago.
In the release, WWE stated their primary focus for the Network going forward "is the launch of its new platform in partnership with Endeavor Streaming and Massive. This new platform will provide flexibility to bring new features and experiences to the Company’s fans and enable the delivery of content in multiple languages."
Obviously, that was a reference to the tiered version of the Network that has been bandied about for some time.

Re: WWE Network Subcriber Update & More
I hope the new platform includes the interface. I signed back up about a month ago and it wasn't too bad when I last left, but with amount of content they've added the Roku App is a shit show, but it's better than the website in my opinion. The simplest things seem to be a pain, and I learned that one does not try to find a specific match. True story, I got so pissed looking, I googled it and found what I was looking for on Daily Motion in about 10 seconds.
Netflix, Hulu... hell, I can't think of another service that hasn't figured out a way to conveniently navigate their libraries.

I've found YouTube and Twitch to both be pretty sh*tty, and DailyMotion is HORRIFIC.
I'd like them to fix the "media error" I get every time I pause a show and thus have to restart.

Hulu has made watching SD almost intolerable lately...idk why...but if you go to rewind or fast forward...it doesn't work-it just literally keeps taking you back to the EXACT SAME POINT...over and over again lol.Bob-O wrote: ↑Apr 25th, '19, 10:38 I hope the new platform includes the interface. When they come, they'll come at what you love.

Finding a specific match is so challenging, that when I find one I know I will want to go back to later, I save the link in a bookmark. Because good luck finding it again. Their search algorithm is so bad.Bob-O wrote: ↑Apr 25th, '19, 10:38 I hope the new platform includes the interface. For watching entire shows, I'll agree to that. But it's sad when I'm paying for the legal and approved means to watch a specific match that I KNOW is buried on The Network somewhere but wind up googling it instead to sift through less bullshit.Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Apr 25th, '19, 10:42 I've found YouTube and Twitch to both be pretty sh*tty, and DailyMotion is HORRIFIC.

I figured it was just me! Haha! I'd wind up restarting shows and fast-forwarding to the part I wanted to watch again, very annoying, but I just figured something wasn't up to date... I watch TV on Roku, and it's usually pretty low on the pecking order of updates. I think it has something to do with the commercials... like, you haven't seen a commercial in 'x' amount of minutes, but you're not rewinding far enough to trigger a commercial, so it doesn't know what to do... idk, just my idea...

Re: WWE Network Subcriber Update & More
Right!? So frustrating! Everyone is so quick to point to subscriber loss being a result of the product... I think a lot of it has to do with people getting pissed off at the app itself.Serujuunin wrote: ↑Apr 25th, '19, 11:17Finding a specific match is so challenging, that when I find one I know I will want to go back to later, I save the link in a bookmark. Re: WWE Network Subcriber Update & More
I mean, I still watch a f*ckton of wrestling on it so obviously it doesn’t bother me too much, but there are definitely some quality of life issues they need to address. Like, spring for a search engine that actually works? Or an interface that is user friendly? LolBob-O wrote: ↑Apr 25th, '19, 11:42Right!? So frustrating! Re: WWE Network Subcriber Update & More
For starters, when I go to browse the content, some of the first things I see are Network Original shows that they haven't updated since last year... not saying they shouldn't be archived, but it frustrating to immediately see things that are irrelevant.

Exactly! Stuff like this, that is, as far as I know, fairly easy to remedy.
EDIT: It also keeps wanting to give me PPVs in Spanish when they're on autoplay, and there's no way I can set a region or a language preference...
