wXw We Love Wrestling #7 (4/2/2021)
ANDY JACKSTON INTERVIEWS HEKTOR INVICTUS- fine
He says beat Icarus tonight, but he was more poetic about it.
HEKTOR INVICTUS vs. DOVER- 4.25/10
Dover score the upset win after a series of big moves.
ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS DOVER- fine
EARLIER TODAY, ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS EZEL- okay
Abdul is a passable talker. Aytac sounded like someone reciting lines. It was bad enough that I picked up on it even though I don’t speak the language.
ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS TEAM wXw WRESTLING ACADEMY- fine
wXw WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND MATCH: Ezel vs. wXw Wrestling Academy (Anil Marik & “The Avalanche” Robert Dreissker)- 5/10
Marik was the babyface in peril and got his knee worked over. Avalanche got the hot tag and won it for his team. I was hoping this would go longer.
ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS TEAM wXw WRESTLING ACADEMY- fine
He asks them who they would rather face in the finals. Marik says he’d rather face Senza Volto & Aigle Blanc because they’re better than Pretty Bastards. Avalanche says that he doesn’t care who they face because both teams are worthy and their job is prepare for whoever wins the other semifinal, not concentrate on preferences.
LEVEANIEL PROMO- GREAT!
Theoretically tis was Das Himmelschloss, but as Levaniel had not scheduled a guest, I just put it down as him cutting a promo.
Anyway, Levaniel cut an excellent promo turning himself babyface. He admitted that he had been “idolizing the wrong people” recently (referencing both Marius Al-Ani and Amale). He is tired of people not taking him seriously, because he knows he can be a big player in wXw. He announces that he is making an open challenge for Dead End 2021 next week to anyone else who is also looking to prove themselves. The challenge was answered by Michael Knight, who cut a fine promo putting Levaniel over the for the spirit he showed by fighting as hard as he could last week despite the two-on-one odds, and challenged Levaniel to bring that same fighting spirit to Dead End 2021.
ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS TIM STUBING- not good
He’s nervous about facing his trainer, Leon van Gasteren. He got the nervousness across well, but it doesn’t make me really want to see him.
LEON VAN GASTEREN vs. TIM STUBING- 6.75/10
This “Tiny Tim” nickname of Stubing’s is terrible and has to go. He had a fine showing against Leon, but he eventually fell to the fisherman’s buster.
ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS LEON VAN GASTEREN- good
Leon puts over Stubing, then is asked about another of his students, Marius Al-Ani, who will challenge for the wXw Unified World Wrestling Title next week. Leon reiterated a point he has made recently, which that Marius’ attitude could be his downfall.
ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS ICARUS- good
Icarus lays out his game-plan for beating Fast Time Moodo. He also rather ominously noted that they are both tag wrestlers now in a singles match and that this “could cause some problems.” I see no other way to read this than a veiled threat that Dover might interfere (Moodo’s tag team partner, Stepanie Maze, is currently injured).
ICARUS vs. FAST TIME MOODO- 6.5/10
Or maybe Icarus’ comment wasn’t meant to be ominous, I gave too much weight to the tone of someone who wasn’t speaking in his native tongue. Such are the risks of watching wXw. This was a good little match.
ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS FAST TIME MOODO- good
Moodo says that he has recovered faster than expected from the injury that he suffered two weeks ago, and that the injury has helped refocus him.
ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS AIGLE BLANC & SENZA VOLTO- decent
wXw WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND MATCH: Pretty Bastards vs. Aigle Blanc & Senza Volto- 7.75/10
Pretty Bastards won clean in what it the best match we’ve seen on We Love Wrestling so far. This had lots of good combinations and the like, without feeling like it was just moves.
ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS THE PRETTY BASTARDS- fine
Things are not all great in the world of Pretty Bastards.
Emil Sitoci vs. Tristan Archer has been announced for Dead End.
wXw UNIFIED WORLD WRESTLING TITLE MATCH CONTRACT SIGNING- GREAT!
Both guys cut great promos. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that no violence broke out during the official picture-taking. This match didn’t need that sort of thing.
This was a good show from wXw, doing a good job of rounding out the card for Dead End and building up the big matches and providing us with some good wrestling. I’m really psyched for the world title match!
