2 Men holding WWE, WCW & World Heavyweight Championship
Hey guys,
In the history of the WWE, only 2 men have held the WWE, WCW and World Heavyweight Championship in the company:
Kurt Angle & Chris Jericho
That's right, Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho have not only made history holding 6 WWE Championships, but they also held 3 World Titles:
The WWE Heavyweight Championship, the WCW Heavyweight Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship
Kurt Angle held the WWE Heavyweight Championship 4 times def. The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Big Show and Brock Lesnar
Angle also won the WCW Heavyweight Championship def. Booker T., but his reign was short lived
and in 2006, on SD! after New Year's Revolution, Kurt Angle won a 20-Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal to become the World Heavyweight Champion after Batista surrendered the belt due to an injury
Angle made history becoming the 1st man to win 6 WWE Championships as well
Chris Jericho on the other hand, won the WCW Heavyweight Championship from The Rock @ No Mercy in 2001
He also won the WWE and WCW Heavyweight Championship def. The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in the same night @ Vengeance 2001 making him the 1st ever Undisputed WWE World Heavyweight Champion and the 1st man to hold 5 WWE Championships
and @ Unforgiven 2008, Chris Jericho won a Championship Scramble Match winning the World Heavyweight Championship and he also def. Batista in a Steel Cage Match
and last year @ The Elimination Chamber PPV, Jericho won the SD! Chamber Match against The Undertaker, John Morrison, R-Truth, CM Punk and Rey Mysterio
If you add the titles:
Kurt Angle has held 6 World Titles in the WWE and Chris Jericho has also held 6 World Titles in the WWE
and that's your look @ 2 men who have held the WWE, WCW and the World Heavyweight Championship:

Re: 2 Men holding WWE, WCW & World Heavyweight Championship
the WCW title and the World Heavyweight title have the same lineage according to the WWE (at least according to the History of the World Heavyweight title DVD).
WWF, I was wondering if you knew what wrestlers were grand slam champs in WCW (the TV title, US title, Tag Team title, and Heavyweight or Cruiserweight title). I think Malenko and Jarrett (but I'm not sure if they ever got the tv title), Booker for sure, Sting and Luger did it, DDP, Dusty Rhodes (I feel one might as well count JCPs NWA), and Beniot. But I feel like I'm forgetting someone....

Re: 2 Men holding WWE, WCW & World Heavyweight Championship
Well let's see
In WCW, STING, Lex Luger, DDP, Chris Benoit, Scott Steiner and Booker T.
and in the NWA, Dusty Rhodes and Ricky Steamboat
But Steamboat would've been Grand Slam Champion in both the NWA and WCW if he had won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from Vader if not for outside interference from Sid Vicious, but I will do a topic on it in another discussion
But also, Big Show just needs the World Heavyweight Championship and Booker T. needs the WWE Heavyweight Championship
He would've won it from JBL in 2004 if not for outside interference from the likes of Orlando Jordan and Heidenrich, IMO

Re: 2 Men holding WWE, WCW & World Heavyweight Championship
I thought the Rock was the first World champion based on Vince disolving the WCW World title & yet making sure the Rock still had a top belt... (night after SS 2001)
Re: 2 Men holding WWE, WCW & World Heavyweight Championship
it was still called the WCW World title until they unified the belts at Armagedon. HHH was the first one to hold the 'World Heavyweight Title' when Bischof gave it to him after Lesnar became exclusive to SD!.ECWFlairfan wrote:I thought the Rock was the first World champion based on Vince disolving the WCW World title & yet making sure the Rock still had a top belt... Either way, on the World Title DVD, it's all the same lineage....

The WWE World Heavyweight championship lineage began in 2002 (though with Vince's announcement in 11/2001 it should have started with The Rock). The belt representing it may look the same as the WCW & NWA World titles, the the comparisons with them end with that! The lineages ARE NOT LINKED & that is the reason I WILL NEVER WATCH THAT DVD... because it is 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No. Because the NWA World title still exists & WWE is trying to make it look like it died when WCW left the NWA. And WWE had NOTHING to do with the greatness that was (& still can be) the NWA World championship. NWA helped make the WWE, not vice versa!!! I felt the same way when I watched and saw that they treated them all as one lineage; but the dvd is the most informative WWE one I've ever seen. You should check it out at least for the info on guys like Lou Thesz and Frnk Gotch. They even explain why wrestling began to be staged....ECWFlairfan wrote:No. Because the NWA World title still exists & WWE is trying to make it look like it died when WCW left the NWA. It may be, but for me to purchase it would be saying its ok to attempt to change wrestling history. Unfortunately, because Vince owns all that footage the NWA can't put out a DVD of the actual truth. So in time fans will believe that garbage. And I will likely have to argue with future fans over it...badnewzxl wrote:I felt the same way when I watched and saw that they treated them all as one lineage; but the dvd is the most informative WWE one I've ever seen. Re: 2 Men holding WWE, WCW & World Heavyweight Championship
I haven't seen the DVD, but why aren't the WWE and NWA World Title lineage's the same until the split? WWE (like the AWA before them) wasn't happy with the booking of the NWA World Title, and when their chosen champion was forced to lose, they then seceded, declaring the loss invalid and giving their man their new World Title. So up until (and including) Buddy Rogers, the belts should have the same lineage.ECWFlairfan wrote:It may be, but for me to purchase it would be saying its ok to attempt to change wrestling history. Re: 2 Men holding WWE, WCW & World Heavyweight Championship
Let's be honest here for a minute. For all intents and purposes, the NWA World Title DID die when WCW left. Mike Johnson hit the nail right on the head in Forever Hardcore when he said that at that point, the NWA was nothing more than a bunch of indies drawing less than 100 fans, going around, patting themselves on the chest and saying "We're part of the NWA!" If it had meant something, then the rest of the NWA would have done what it was originally designed to do and all teamed up to put Todd Gordon out of business for Shane throwing down the belt. But that didn't happen.ECWFlairfan wrote:

The NWA World Heavyweight Title spent the next seven years bouncing around on a bunch of no-names (and yes, Candido was a no-name at the time), with the exception of a one month reign by Sabu in 2000, until Corino picked up the belt (after ECW closed).
It only became important again when it was in TNA. Once the NWA decided to take the belts away from TNA, it became unimportant again. And it still is unimportant. They put the belt on Pearce, Cabana, Blue Demon Jr... the belt still means nothing right now. The only thing it has going for it is a name... a name that only mattered in the first place because a bunch of guys got together and decided to carve the continent up into their own private empires.

Re: 2 Men holding WWE, WCW & World Heavyweight Championship
The NWA lost alot of credibility when WCW left, but it didn't die. I'd hardly call Dan Severn a no-name... But my point is that the WWE is LYING to the wrestling world when they claim their World title continues the lineage of the NWA (which still exists) & WCW (which if Vince wanted to do instead of unifying the titles at Armageddon 2001 he could have but can't while not recognizing The Rock as the first World champion). Bottom line here, for me, is that WWE is trying to take credit for a lineage that had little to do with them...Big Red Machine wrote:Let's be honest here for a minute. the guy who said that also said "EXCEPT TNA," who had the NWA title at the time the dvd was made; so the title wasn't dead at all. The NWA title has a lineage & when Thesz won the NWA title while the Northeast promoters wanted Rogers then seceded (thus forming what is now WWE), Rogers started a NEW CHAMPIONSHIP LINEAGE which runs to CM Punk & John Cena tonight.Big Red Machine wrote:And you haven't answered my point. The WCW lineage ended with the Rock the night after SS 2001 when Vince McMahon declared the WCW title gone & the Rock as the World champion. That was the title that was unified with the WWE title then held by Stone Cold Steve Austin at Vengence 2001. So truthfully, Chris Jericho isn't a 2 time WCW champion, he's a 1 time WCW champion, 1 time WWE champion, and a 1 time pre-unification World champion. This all from the Vince McMahon promo the night after SS 2001 when he fired Paul Heyman, Shane, & Stephanie, made Regal the first member of his KMA club...he declared The Rock the WORLD CHAMPION. Look up the promo!!! (Pre-Vengence:

They refused to recognize the title change. Therefore, according to them Rogers was still the champion, (they didn't say "lets make him our new champ" they said "he is still the champ because we don't recognize him losing the belt) and the only things new about the belt are the name and physical belt, but not the lineage. In their eyes, the NWA & Lou Thesz have stolen the real belt, so they have to get a new one.ECWFlairfan wrote:The NWA title has a lineage & when Thesz won the NWA title while the Northeast promoters wanted Rogers then seceded (thus forming what is now WWE), Rogers started a NEW CHAMPIONSHIP LINEAGE which runs to CM Punk & John Cena tonight.Big Red Machine wrote:And you haven't answered my point. Re: 2 Men holding WWE, WCW & World Heavyweight Championship
The "except TNA" was in reference to the comment "and it still is today," not to the state of the NWA in 1994. His comment, along with everything that happened when the NWA pulled the belts from TNA in 2007 just go to prove my point. The NWA name meant NOTHING. It was all TNA, its distribution, and its stars. If it was the NWA name that mattered, then the X-Division Belt (which was a TNA belt, not an NWA owned belt) wouldn't have been so important in the eyes of the fans right from the get-go.badnewzxl wrote:the guy who said that also said "EXCEPT TNA," who had the NWA title at the time the dvd was made; so the title wasn't dead at all. The WWE's World championship DVD is a 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% LIE!
