BOTB: ECW Alumni

Post by Earth Child » Aug 23rd, '11, 23:13

I've just recently started watching a lot of ECW. Currently WWE just isn't cutting it in terms of good matches. TNA... well I just don't bother anymore. Not until the MCMG return.

So yeah, I've been watching some ECW, acquired a few PPVs, ones I couldn't I managed to find on youtube
(ECWHARDCORETV2 can hook you up with what you need)

And so I have come to a very tough decision, who do I like more?

Shane Douglas. What can I say? I love arogant heels.

Sandman. Entrance, epic. Matches, good (not the greatest though). Character, someone I enjoy cheering whether being a face or heel.

The point of this topic to discuss who you liked the most out of the original ECW alumni. I just got a bit off track there

I'm torn between Shane Douglas and The Sandman.

Though I don't really like RVD, Can't argue with his success.

Raven would be my favourite however. Miles of success and all while not looking like your average wrestler.

Raven for me. Easy.

You mean a train wreck?

I've never watched a Sabu match without a botch.

the easy answer would be Eddie, Benoit, Jericho, and Malenko.

but to consider guys that were mostly created by ECW, i'd go with
- Taz ( starting like half a year before the neck injury), i wasn't a big fan of the tazmaniac
- Stevie Richards (the BWO shit)
- Raven
- Nova
- 2 Cold Scorpio

Honorable Mentions:
the dudleys, mike awesome, Candido, Cactus Jack, and Lynn

how many ECW matches have you seen without a botch? cuz there aren't very many. Sabu's style was so wild, it made sense that he botched moves all the time; he really was a Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal Maniac in the ring.

Sabu was arguably the most important element to ECW; Heyman even said it on the Rise and Fall, and almost everyone on the Forever Hardcore DVD said the same. He was the promotions major draw and he helped build the identity of the promotion more than prolly anyone else (Foley and Funk were already well known outside of ECW, and Shane Douglas jumped to WWE before long. Sabu was there from the very beginning and ALWAYS made an impact.)

"Success" and being good are two different things. Look at Batista. Successful? Yes. Good? Not really.

True; Raven would round out the top three if that were the case.

I don't like to count guys like Rey, Beniot, Austin, etc in this convo; none of those guys were in ECW very long at all. They kinda just stopped in for a bit.

Rhyno was good, but he did nothing after ECW except for a too brief NWA World title reign...

When I think of ECW Alumni, I think of those who spent alot of time in ECW, not those who were around for a cup of coffee... here's my list:

RVD, Sandman, Sabu, Taz, Dudleys (Bubba Ray, Devon, Spike, Big Dick), Ravan, Shane Douglas, Jerry Lynn, Rhino, Steve Corino, Balls Mahoney, Axl Rotten, Tommy Dreamer, Danny Doring, Roadkill, Chris Chetti, Lance Storm, Jazz, Justin Credible, Jason Knight, Francine, Beulah, Joel Gertner, Cyrus, Joey Styles, John Kronus, Perry Saturn, Nova, Little Guido, Big Guido, Mikey Whipwreck, New Jack, Pitbulls, Public Enemy, Stevie Richards, Tracie Smothers, Tajiri, Big Meanie...
