BRM Reviews WWE Vengeance 2011

Post by Big Red Machine » Oct 24th, '11, 04:41

WWE Vengeance (10/23/2011)- San Antonio, TX

WWE TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Air Boom(c) vs. Jack Swagger & Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero)- 6.25/10. Good opener. Nice to see Air Boom developing some double teams.

WWE UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH: Dolph Ziggler(c) (w/Vickie Guerrero & Jack Swagger) vs. Zack Ryder (w/Air Boom)- 4.5/10.

PUNK & TRIPLE H BACKSTAGE- okay

WWE DIVAS TITLE MATCH: Beth Phoenix(c) vs. Eve Torres- 5/10. Submission wrestling in a divas match!
I really didn’t like the spot with Eve getting Beth stuck in the ropes. That is the sort of spot that only works coming from a jackass heel (think Austin Aries) or a comedy babyface (think Colt Cabana).

BIG SHOW PROMO- Great

SHEAMUS vs. CHRISTIAN- 7/10

HEELS & JOHNNY ACE BACKSTAGE- eh. I popped for The Miz’s Rock impression, though.

CM PUNK & TRIPLE H vs. THE MIZ & R-TRUTH- 6.5/10

RANDY ORTON vs. CODY RHODES- 7.5/10

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Mark Henry(c) vs. The Big Show- 6/10. The finisher off of the top felt like finisher overkill to me. I totally saw the Brock-Show finish coming. The stuff at the end made Henry look like one tough S.O.B. though.

JOHNNY ACE PROMO- I loved the slip of the tongue.

LAST MAN STANDING MATCH FOR THE WWE TITLE: Alberto Del Rio(c) (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. John Cena- 7.75/10. Had some good false finishes, but R-Truth & Miz’s attack on Cena confuses me.

Overall, this was an okay show from WWE. Nothing bad, and a bunch of solid matches, but nothing worth going out of your way to see, either.

I personally think that the Dolph Ziggler matches were worth buying the PPV for on their own.

I think this potential series of matches between Eve and Beth are gonna be awesome, i have a slight Melina/Beth feel here.

It kinda seem weird IMO that Ace would go and say "you guys are the best suck ups". I feel like Ace is starting to alienate both faces and heels. Del Rio is already pissed off at Ace every time he sees him, now he's calling these two suck ups.

It was waaay to predictable, I have two problems here. (1) this is a spot that constantly gets mentioned in wwe.com, wwe lists, or in the wwe DVDs, yet they act like this is a once in a lifetime thing. (2) Did they really need to re-enact this exactly like Lesnar/Show? at least change the corner, the superplex, anything. it looked exaclty the same.
I do agree that Henry looked tough at the end, he was falling to the floor hands free.

This. didn't think many peopple would catch that.

For some reason, i was marking out that these two were gonna fight in a broken ring, it made me feel like these two really hated eachother and wanted to fight regardless. The only thing i didn't like was that they spent soo much time in a broken ring, why not just go all out all over the arena.

best thing of the night: CENA CHANGED HIS ATTIRE!!!! NO MORE JEAN SHORTS!!!! NO MORE FRUTTY PEBBLES!!! ROCK IS GONNA NEED NEW MATERIAL!!!

From what I understand, Punk is under the impression that someone wants Alberto to be champion.
If that someone were Johnny Ace, he'd definitely send his "allies" Truth and Miz to stop Cena.

Not only this, but they made great of the broken ring. It is an opportunity that you don't get very often, so you should make use of it while you can, and they did that very well.

I thought that Punk was under the impression that someone was trying to grab control, and that screwing him over in favor of Del Rio by having Nash jump the guardrail was a way to sew more animosity between him and Hunter, and was a way to make things look chaotic, which would reflect badly on Triple H.

Which makes Ace the prime suspect, right? Isn't he partial to Del Rio in the storyline as well?
Ace calls Nash, he hires back Miz and Truth, and he manages to profit from HHH's removal...
I got the impression thats where they're going. Ace plotting control for some reason or another.
