WOTW: Face Turn

Post by Earth Child » Jan 30th, '11, 08:06

Who should have never listened to their conscience and turned face?

My pick would be Edge.

Simply because he plays the bad guy just to damn well. Its almost like a waste of talent them not letting him be heel.

Jeff Jarrett. Nobody can get behind that guy for too long; he just sucks too bad. There's nothing to like about JJ, which is why he totally blows as a face...

Owen Hart. He tried to be a tough guy but he couldn't grow his damn beard in!

In all seriousness, Owen's attempts at being a face, when Bret left for WCW, fell pretty flat. He ended up joining the Nation of Domination.

For BC reasons. The NOD was by far the most over of those groups (because it was the original group that all of the others emerged from), thus it was the only one to survive after the Gang Wars angle. They needed to PC it up, so they kicked out Faarooq, thus dropping the "militant black guys" angle. One way to do this and give them a guy who could replace both the star power of The Rock (as Rocky moved up and became a megastar) and the wrestling skill of Faarooq was to add in Owen.

Both very good points, but have people forgotten that both Crush and the two twins who were all white were in The Nation way before Owen!!! :D

You mean 8 Ball and Skull, the Harris Boys? They were with Crush and Brian Lee in D.O.A. Crush and Savio Vega got the boot from N.O.D after Farooq wanted to make it "A whole lot blacker!" and got the Rock and Kama Mustafa to join him and D-Lo.

and don't forget about Savio Vega, who was Puerto Rican.

I think originally the Nation of Domination was spose to be some super prison group: Farooq had what appeared to be black Muslims and he himself was a militant black man, Crush was a biker, and Savio was a Puerto Rican gangster. After Farooq reformed it, it became JUST a militant balck group, but Owen being in it didn't hurt it much. There were whites and other non-blacks in the Black Panthers.....

For BC reasons. The NOD was by far the most over of those groups (because it was the original group that all of the others emerged from), thus it was the only one to survive after the Gang Wars angle. This. Not because of the effect... but the 25 minutes or whatever that came just before the turn. As Randy would say "STUPID".
