BRM Reviews the 2/10/2012 Smackdown (*SPOILERS*)

Post by Big Red Machine » Feb 10th, '12, 13:43

OPENING SEGMENT- AWESOME! I am a huge mark for segments like these! Great promos from everyone.

THE GREAT KAHLI vs. JINDER MAHAL- Jinder cut a pre-match promo that started off “when I beat The Great Khali…” I didn’t hear the rest of the promo because I was laughing too hard. Jinder hasn’t beaten ANYONE yet! So what is supposed to make us think that he has a snowball’s chance of beating Khali? As predicted, this match was a squash.

DANIEL BRYAN & TEDDY LONG IN TEDDY’S OFFICE- Dragon says that eating the charred flesh of a dead animal is disgusting… and this week, I actually agree with him. There is nothing worse than a burnt steak. What a waste of tasty potential! All joking aside, this segment stunk. It was just Dragon trying to worm his way out of a match and Teddy long being his usual boring self.

BETH PHOENIX vs. ALICIA FOX- squash. Good aftermath, though.

THE ROCK VIDEO PACKAGE- GREAT!

THE SEGMENT WITH NATALYA FARTING- This utterly failed. 1,000 %. Take a moronic gimmick that involves toilet humor and add in a crappy (I love puns!) sound effect and you always have a recipe for disaster, but this segment in particular didn’t work on any level. Everyone knows that TJ and Nattie have been together for an extremely long time. You would think that he wouldn’t care about her farting.

SHEAMUS & THE BIG SHOW vs. WADE BARRETT & CODY RHODES- 6/10.

MICHAEL COLE INTERVIEWS AJ- Interesting segment. In the beginning, I was afraid that this would turn into another Michael Cole heat segment , and it felt dangerously close to that. In the end, it got interesting. I really want to see where this goes, but it is, unfortunately, looking more and more like AJ will not follow Dragon down the heel path. Then it disappointed me by turning into another attempt by Dragon to get out of his match with Orton… but that Prius line was HILARIOUS! Being technical about, this is was an awesome segment, as it let both Dragon and AJ get some character-work in, played up the angle of the night (Dragon trying to get out of his match with Orton), and also was something that will be built into the a major part of the overall story with Dragon and AJ (Cole telling AJ that people think that Dragon doesn’t really care about her)… but for some reason, and I’m not sure exactly why, I didn’t get that awesome feeling while watching it. I can appreciate the booking (and I can’t wait for next week’s show to see where this goes), but I just didn’t enjoy it for some reason.

TED DIBIASE JR. vs. HUNICO (w/Kamacho)- 3/10. Dibiase is injured going in. There is no reason that he can’t lose cleanly right here. Instead Hunico looks even worse.

DANIEL BRYAN VIDEO PACKAGE- good

RANDY ORTON vs. DANIEL BRYAN- 7/10… tentatively. If they don’t do anything with Orton vs. Show , then it deserves to be a 6.75.

Overall, an okay episode of Smackdown, but one that is clearly pushing towards both Elimination Chamber and Wrestlemania.

Jinder Mahal wins on Superstars, watch episodes since the beginning of this year and you'll see him winning.

Even so, he doesn't probably doesn't beat anyone mildly close to important. He already got destroyed by Khali last summer, and there has been nothing since then to indicate that he will have any better chances.

This one in particular has always been at least semi-kayfabe, occasionally being alluded to on the air. She even did so in this very segment, saying something along the lines of "even Tyson doesn't want to be around me" after he walked away. It is like Sunny and Candido when they were in the WWF. It wasn't acknowledged, but everyone, including the fans, knew about it.

I always thought Tyson was somehow related to the Hart Fam; didn't know he dated Nattie....

They're still living together i think. Been living together for like 5 years or something.

Weren't Nattie & Kidd kayfabe dating when he was brought up on ECW?

He was good friends with Teddy Hart and Harry Smith growing up.
