BRM Reviews the 4/6/2012 Smackdown

OPENING SEGMENT- I really didn’t like this. I am sick and tired of seeing Teddy Long on my TV, so the prospect of this feud between him and Johnny Ace continuing is quite distressing to me. Let Johnny Ace get his heat by being a d*ck to the wrestlers. Not to TheoSnore Long (aren’t I clever?).

HANDICAP MATCH: R-Truth vs. David Otunga & Mark Henry- DUD!
This was just boring and didn’t feel like it did anything at all. The way they had Kane come out before the commercial break with Henry and Otunga still in the ring was awkward.

NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH: Randy Orton vs. Kane- 7/10

RYBACK vs. BARRY STEVENS- Squash! And with an ACTUAL JOBBER for once!

DANIEL BRYAN & AJ SEGMENT- I didn’t like it, but it makes sense with Dragon’s character, and AJ getting her f*cking heart kicked in seemed to do a good job at getting Dragon his heat back. I just hope that they don’t wind up ending AJ’s brief push.

THE BIG SHOW vs. HEATH SLATER- squash

JOHNNY ACE & SHEAMUS BACKSTAGE- great

BETH PHOENIX vs. NIKKI BELLA- NO!!!!!! If you want to do that finish, let someone who is actually a GOOD wrestler like Tamina get the pin on the champ.

DAMIEN SANDOW PROMO- I popped huge.

ALBERT DEL RIO vs. SHEAMUS- 6.25/10
Not good enough for a main event. Major props to Del Rio, though. He managed to pull an Eddie without getting a babyface pop. That is impressive.

AFTERMATH- not good. Sheamus seemed WAY too calm here. He should have been going absolutely nuts before he kicked the referee.

Overall a fairly good episode of Smackdown.

My prediction for the results of Booker T’s meeting in Connecticut next week is that it will somehow result in him being the GM of Smackdown. Whatever negative effects that may have (since it would cheapen the stip of the Wrestlemania match) will be nothing compared to how much more enjoyable the show will be without Booker stinking it up on commentary.
