BRM Reviews PWG Steen Wolf

Post by Big Red Machine » Dec 27th, '11, 13:13

PWG Steen Wolf (10/22/2011)- Reseda, CA

CANDICE LERAE, FAMOUS B, & CHRIS KADILLAK vs. RAY ROSAS, PETER AVALON, & FREDDY BRAVO- 6.5/10. Awesome opener. Spotty and lots of fun. The four first timers were given time and looked extremely impressive.

ROCKY ROMERO vs. TJ PERKINS- 6.25/10

THE ROCK-NES MONSTERS (Johnny Yuma & Johnny Goodtime) THE FIGHTIN’ TAYLOR BOYS (w/Chuck Taylor)- 7.5/10. My jaw was on the floor the entire match. A spotfest… but one that you can’t help but go nuts for.

DAVEY RICHARDS vs. WILLIE MACK- 7.5/10

LOS LUCHAS vs. THE DYNASTY (Joey Ryan & Scorpio Sky)- 6.5/10

CHUCK TAYLOR vs. RICOCHET- 7.75/10

PWG WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Young Bucks(c) vs. Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly- 8.5/10 Awesome PWG debut for Cole & O’Reilly. Others might not like it, but I thought that having Davey on commentary pretty outwardly rooting for Cole & O’Reilly was a little touch that really helped the match.

LADDER MATCH FOR THE PWG WORLD TITLE: Kevin Steen(c) vs. El Generico- 8.5/10. The selling here felt off to me, and I’m not exactly sure why the Young Bucks interfered. , and I feel like Generico didn’t really get his moment.

AFTERMATH- SUPER DRAGON IS F*CKING BACK, BABY!

Overall, top to bottom, this show was awesome. A must-buy. Better than Money In The Bank? No.

AWESOME ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. Excalibur: Kevin Steen, can you tell these people apart?
Steen: Candice is the one with the vagina.
Excalibur: How can you tell? Is she wearing it on her sleeve?

2. Steen (after Candice hits a series of ball-plexes): “Do you think the guys have time to get aroused in that one second that her hands are on their balls before they get dropped on their heads?”

3. Excalibur “It has long been rumored that Tracey Smothers is actually papa Taylor. You might say ‘how can he be papa Taylor when his last name is Smothers?” Well, you know, guys have been know to change their name when they owe a small fortune… when they owe the gross national product of Zambia in child support”

Generico doesn't need a moment, because 1. He's already been champ, and 2. The moment was supposed to be for Super Dragon. Also, The Young Bucks came out because they hate that Steen is the poster child for PWG and not them.

Then the commentary team should have explained that.

As for Generico- every time someone wins a top title, there should be a moment. This really made it feel like they took the world title off of Steen just so they could put the tag team titles on him.

I just rewatched this show... It's now officially one of my favorite shows of all time. Chuck Taylor on commentary in the main event was f*cking gold.
