WWE network
What are your thoughts on the WWE network? I find it lacking and not really up to the standards and the hype....I got it because the cable providers around here (well the one that has it cornered) is so expensive that you pay well over 150$ just for basic tv and internet..
so I picked the internet, and got the WWE network, cause it said we can watch alot of stuff, includding RAW/SD after it aired...now maybe its just my xbox 360 trolling me, but I cant seem to watch raw or SD....and I am really pissed bout that fact alone...other than the free PPV's (which im sure will all be laggy and crash to hell) there is really nothing I havent seen on the show
whats your thoughts/opinions

Re: WWE network
Yeah. I, too, am pretty annoyed at the lack of Raw and Smackdown right after they air, which was originally one of selling points of the Network. From what I understand, they intended to have it, but then either the networks or Hulu or both said WHOA! Slow down. Our contract with you says that you can't do that, so WWE quietly stopped advertising that fact, but of course no one noticed and we all assumed that it was still the case. Kind of a dick move on WWE's part, but still within the bounds of the law and it is what pretty much every other business would have done in that same situation.
As for the programming, the only thing I have watched on it live was this week's Main Event, and I had no problems at all with my stream.
The only thing I have tried to watch from the archive is ECW November To Remember 1997, and two things have been bugging me. The first was my discovery that the big four way tag team title match has been edited off. I have heard that the reason for this is because of copyright issues regarding New Jack's music, and having to edit out music that goes through an entire match is even harder than only having to do it for entrances. I heard someone say on Bryan Alvarez's call-in show that they had tried to watch a New Jack match on the Network and they had actually edited the music, so maybe they are just getting around to doing that and haven't done it for November To Remember 1997 yet, but it is still annoying because this was an issue that WWE should have thought of in advance.
The other really annoying thing is that, in your tracking bar, it has these big circles which function as chapter points. If it wasn't annoying enough that these things give away that the finish is coming soon, they all have captions which often contain spoilers (e.g. "watch Taz choke out Pitbull #2 to retain the TV Title)", which is really annoying if you want to watch things spoiler free.
All in all, though, I am still very happy with my purchase, simply because of the money it saves me on PPV. This first bunch in particular, which will get Mania, MITB, and Summer Slam all in one is making me very happy.

Re: WWE network
yeah the RAW/SD was my selling point as well I do like the legends round table deal...tho I wish there was more of those... I, as well hate the tracking bar...mainly for the fact I never really got to watch more of if any ECW PPV's and forgotten alot of the WCW/WWE PPV's and its like watching for the first time... I think WWE should have been able to tell its customers that "because of HULU and others, we will not infact be able to air RAW/SD right after)
which in itself is lame lol

Re: WWE network
I'd been holding out on getting it, waiting to hear what people thought of it before buying it. Last night I found out they'd just added a bunch of WCCW stuff... with a tight lipped nod, I got up off the couch and grabbed my wallet. I haven't told my wife yet, but I figure this is one of those times it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, like the time I donated money to a wrestling forum...
"Yeah, so... The Sportatorium isn't even there any more... It's in heaven with all the Von Erichs... show some respect."
I'm sure it'll be cool.
But yeah! I tinkered around with it last night a little bit, and really liked the content . I'm super psyched for the next night Raw isn't on. I liked the range of content made available, and with the addition of WCCW - I can only assume weekly TV's from the AWA and others aren't far behind. I knew about the Raw/Smackdown replays going in, and I can see where that'd be a really shitty surprise for a lot of people, but it doesn't effect me much. The preshow/post show things are a little too kayfabe for my taste, but I think if they tie in the Backstage Fallout clips they'll really be on to something cool. I've always loved Legends Round Table, and am thrilled they included them here. Hopefully they're popular and they feel compelled to make more. Also with you guys about the spoiler bubbles. I see what they're doing, and it's a good concept but a bad idea. I'm alright knowing the match is nearing the finish, I just don't like knowing exactly what the finish is going to be.
I had a slight issue with the streaming on my Roku, but I liked that it was adjusting the quality of the stream to keep up rather than lagging. I had no lag, but a few times the quality of the picture suffered and recovered. Nothing I can't live with, but it's got me a little weary of how my lackluster internet speed is going to keep up with the live stuff. It's always done alright with the not-so-legal streams, so we'll see.

Re: WWE network
I'm just disappointed by the lack of Smackdown and given that I have Netflix, I don't want to shell out for Hulu Plus. Though, Raw was available on Tuesday, so that's good.
Reality TV is faker than "fake" wrestling!

Unfortunately not, but it does have a really nice library of WWE documentaries. SD is apparently a Hulu Plus exclusive.Big Red Machine wrote: Wait... is Smackdown available on Netflix the day after it airs?

It's on regular Hulu, too, but it is the difference between a minute per commercial or about four minutes per commercial.kirbs2002 wrote:Unfortunately not, but it does have a really nice library of WWE documentaries. I'm debating cancelling my Hulu Plus to free up some money to subscribe to the Wrestling Observer. It's not healthy for me to stay up until four am two nights a week to listen to the Bryan and Vinny Show.

Re: WWE network
I didn't realize they had Raw and Smackdown archives on there! I was pretty excited until I realized Raw only goes back to '98. I've wanted to go back to '96/'97 and watch Austin's reinvention for a while now. I mean, I'm still excited, but that was a let down.
I remember the Ring Master, but have no idea how we went from there to the Pillman/Gun thing, KOTR '96, and those AMAZING promos against Bret Hart ("Pink tights.... what the hell is that all about Bret? This ain't no ballet class...")
Hopefully soon...
