Source: pwinsider.com

"WWE officially announced at tonight's SmackDown tapings in Philadelphia that the 2015 Royal Rumble pay-per-view will take place from the Wells Fargo Center from Philly. The Rumble will take place on January 25th. Tickets go on sale this Friday but apparently they were available to fans at tonight's tapings.

It was also announced that there will be a 40-man Royal Rumble match again this year."

An online pre-sale is already taking place on Comcast's Ticketing website using code RUMBLEPA.

I remember it just feeling too darn long. I also hated the way that they chose who would be in it. There was no reason for guys who already wrestled that night (especially in world title matches) to be in the rumble. There are spots that are needed for chumps who get eliminated to make your midcarders look halfway decent. There is no reason that multiple upper-midcard guys should go through the rumble with no eliminations- especially in a 40 man rumble, and especially when you're not doing a story where on guy has a MONSTER year liek Kane in 2001 or Reigns this year.
On the bright side, this means more potential eliminations for Kane to reclaim his rightful place atop the all-time leaderboard!

yeah, i forgot that it opens space for people to just pull double duty. I was seeing it as a chance for some NXT guys to enter the rumble. And you know there's no chance WWE would let Kane retake any of his records

Simple. Look at ALL the returns ytou have to account for possibly at the Rumble, plus the current roster.

Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, CM Punk (MARK MY WORDS), Christian (he'll make a one time appearance since his wrestling days are over), Rey Mysterio (AS ALWAYS boring), and Wade Barrett. Then you have your legends (Hacksaw [Imagine the pop if they continue building Rusev. The USA chants would be off the chart, then Rusev crush], Kevin Nash, Booker T, and something tells me Angle.

If my stars are wrong, you get the picture. So many guys are out right now, that they'll need to come back in a big way. No better way than the Rumble.
Booker T: "HIP BONE CONNECTED TO THE LEG BONE!!!" ...... Cole: "WHAAAAT?"

Pulling double duty was always my favorite part of the rumble. Why would anyone want to be booked in another match on that night if it meant they wouldnt get a chance to headline mania?

By all-time I meant cumulative. HBK currently has it at 40. Kane has 36 by my count, but I'm not counting any he got as Fake Diesel or Isaac Yankem.

The guys that really bothered me pulling double duty were the guys who had already lost world title matches that night. They also had their chance to headline Mania by winning their title match. Why should they get another?

I agree with this. But it would be a good move for a heel who lost his match fairly and then cheated to win the Rumble, or baby faces who got cheated and then won the Rumble legitimately. There are good uses for pulling double duty in title matches and the Rumble, they just have to pull it off properly.

Gotcha. I'm okay with HBK having this record though. Because it's HBK lol

I get that, but you'd have to come up with a reason for him to be booked in the Rumble as well because people usually don't wrestle twice in one night. Maybe if you had a situation where there is a heel authority figure who really likes a certain heel (like the Authority with Orton last year) so he just lets him in the Rumble that would work.

Something along those lines would work well. I just think that people don't give it enough thought, that's all. It wouldn't be hard to make it feel legitimate that someone is getting two shots in one night, they just think we won't notice lol.

Well I'm not! He already has a bunch of records. Let the Big Red Machine have this one!

Of course, in the long run it won't matter because with the start he got this year and the fact that he'll probably win next year's rumble, there is no way that Reigns doesn't end up with it in the next decade or so, and probably finishes his career with it WAY out of reach for anyone else.
