Very sad news. I assume this is budget related. You really only need one main roster ring announcer, and Lillian has seniority, plus other stuff that can bring WWE publicity like her attempted singing career.

Real bummer. Perhaps I'm alone on this, but I thought he was as good as Finkel.
Reality TV is faker than "fake" wrestling!

Finks the GOAT. Not to take anything away from Justin Roberts, but Finkel has a natural ability to make everything sound so epic. There's no mistaking Howard Finkel, whereas unless I'm really paying attention I can't tell Roberts and Chimel apart.
Chimel's still there, isn't he? As long as I don't have to listen to Lillian all night long, I feel that would have been the bigger disappointment in this turn of events.
Her days have to be numbered too, right? Aren't all the NXT ring announcers female?

Re: WWE Releases Justin Roberts
yeah, younger, hotter, and the announcers don't make horse jokes about her.Bob-O wrote: Her days have to be numbered too, right? Aren't all the NXT ring announcers female?
also, i kinda wish they would write him off by choking Daniel Bryan with a tie

I feel the same way about Bobby Cruise. That is the mark of a great ring announcer. Making everything sound epic. Lillian gets into form for Wrestlemania, but I find that the rest of the year, she slacks off.Bob-O wrote:Big Red Machine wrote:I'd agree.kirbs2002 wrote:Real bummer. Yes but one of them is JoJo, who is only around because she still has a contract after Total Divas failed and they don't quite want to admit her failure by releasing her (and it's also possible that her dad, a former All-Star second baseman, may have some stroke due to having some sort of mainstream popularity, but that is all speculation on my part)- and the other one is Eden, who dropped out of developmental a few years ago, and only currently has a job because she is Cody's wife.Bob-O wrote: Her days have to be numbered too, right? That would actually be hilarious. They could do that for one of those Raw "after the show" dvds.cero2k wrote:

Because this totally went over well the first time.cero2k wrote:

Re: WWE Releases Justin Roberts
In the long run... yes. If it hadn't happened, Bryan just would have been a random guy in the Nexus and gone nowhere. Instead, he got to come back as a big babyface and got focus (also, Gabe and Quack and whoever else booked him that summer got to make money off of him for their promotions). If it wasn't for that, he wouldn't have been a situation to feud with Miz and win the title from him. If that hadn't happened, he wouldn't have gotten those "champion vs. champion" matches with Dolph which blew away pretty much everything WWE was doing on a regular and help get Dolph a push. If it wasn't for those matches and him having the title, they wouldn't have felt the need to keep Bryan on TV, so we never would have gotten the Bellas angle, and he wouldn't have hung out with Brie and they wouldn't have fallen in love.kirbs2002 wrote:Because this totally went over well the first time.cero2k wrote:

Also, if not for that title reign and angle he wouldn't have been able to show his personality and how well he can help get other over. He Wouldn't have been given MITB or AJ, wouldn't have cashed in on Big Show, setting up for the AJ injury angle. If not for that angle, he wouldn't have turned heel so we wouldn't have gotten douchy-hippy heel Dragon and we wouldn't have gotten the "YES!" chants (which he did try to be annoying). Not being heel means they wouldn't have dared to do the 18 seconds thing. Without that, the fasn wouldn't have rallied around him (no YES! chant) and they wouldn't have taken AJ away from him so quickly. If the fans hadn't rallied behind him and he hadn't been a heel, he wouldn't have switched from "YES!" to "NO!" and if they hadn't taken AJ away from him, he never would have gotten involved with Kane. If he hadn't gotten involed with Kane and had the "NO!" chant, we wouldn't have gotten Team Hell No. No Team Hell No means no natural feud with the Shield, which helped get both Dragon and the Shield over. If Dragon hadn't feuded with the Shield, he wouldn't have gotten pinned so much, which would have meant no "weakest link" storyline, no big win over Orton, and no match with Cena. No match with Cena means no title win and Authority angle, which means no keeping him out of the Rumble, which means no hijacking the show, or "No Bryan, No Buy" or any of these other outpourings of fan support, which would have meant no title win at Wrestlemania.
Obviously a lot of other factors went in to all of these things, too, but if he doesn't get to come back as a big babyface, I'm not sure creative would have been smart enough to find something for him.
